THE BATTLEFIELD OF LOVE
Episode 14's. State Emergencies
Fear has gone nowhere after the Dallas isolation announcement. Other countries issue travel warnings to the USA and urge citizens to return from the USA.
And in times of panic like this apocalypse (we call it so when suddenly so many patients enter that blue code and grey code occur many times) in the ER (Emergency Room) always occurs. People who worry and panic cause many accidents to happen. Too intense adrenaline, panic attacks and anxiety that can harm others.
I told Fred that no matter what happened he had to tell me via text message because I was busy in the Emergency Room.
Code Blue, which means we're dealing with a case of cardiac arrest like it happened simultaneously today. Ambulance lowered patients who one of the paramedics had to perform CPR step chest compressions on the bed. The other two held breathing apparatus and pushed the bed while reading out the status of the patient to hospital staff.
Then we have to do another procedure to connect the patient's life. CPR which means Cardiopulmonary Procedure Resuscitation starts from chest compressions as deep as 2-2.4 inches with a rhythm of 100 minute pressures that such as forcing the heart to stop still pumping blood to prevent damage to brain tissue. The patient's airway is open.
Then proceed with a series of drugs, fluids and if possible algorithm defibrillation (heart shock) and ALS (Advanced Life Support). But the sad rate of rescue from cardiac arrest cases is only 15%.
Then the security staff confronted Code Grey, a family of patients who could not control themselves and forced their way into the emergency, disrupting our work.
This wave continued into the night, until the next shift came and we were finally able to rest today.
Noah and I and two other people sat down to check the news. There is no news other than panic going on all over the country.
And called Fred.
"You okay?"
"I'm good. They forced us back to the hotel and reported the test system in the morning... We can't force anything about flying. Because when the isolation order occurs the airport immediately stops the flight out operations, even those who are loading passengers. The plane that landed after the isolation order was forced back unless that could indicate that he was a resident of Dallas." Fred immediately told me what happened.
"Oh my God, Fred it's scary." I can only complain to him.
"May this not spread to other cities. I'm afraid I'm gonna have to be chased by zombies. You have to be careful not to get caught up in the riots, some areas in Dallas there's a group of people who take advantage of the situation to loot."
"No way, this hotel is very close to the airport and the army is here, there can be no riots. Take it easy to see the progress tomorrow. You need to rest, .. I hope this doesn't get any worse."
"We're in the hospital. I have not been able to go home, at least until tenpm tonight they are afraid there is a significant surge again by night to morning. And it seems that if it's still uncertain we'll have a wave in the ER."
"Drink your vitamins if so. Take care. El Paso should be safe. It's a military base. If the worst happens, you have the most guns in the world. So no zombies would dare to go there..." I laugh. That's not entirely true. Because if the worst happens, the army must be deployed to the battlefield to face the zombies. And I will also follow them to the front lines.
"I love you..." Just stay there for a second.
"I love you too..." Her reply made me want to cry at a time like this. I wanted to hug Fred again and feel him around me.
"Rest if you're home, get some rest, okay. Take care..." I decided on the phone later. Trying to eat and rest from my own tiredness and worry.

At six in the morning I was in the hospital again. Conditions added erratically. Japan, China, Mexico and Canada announced their first infections. New York, North Carolina on the east coast and Oakland, Long Beach on the west coast also announced the first infections.
Something is clearly wrong here. The medium of spread is estimated to be food products contaminated with toxoplasmosa gondhii type Z cysts. All countries are now halting exports of USA food products. But the source of transmission is certainly still being explored and whether it is true from the USA. Or from another country?
What is clear is that panic is occurring all over the state. The televised broadcasts were met with advice from the CDC and government advice not to panic.
And the most noticeable thing was that the ward of care on my part was filled with patients from the night before. I quickly read the charting of the 3 additional patients I had to deal with while instructing the new nurse to prepare the patient's medication beforehand.
"It's very busy apparently Delores..."
"Hmm there's an extra three in your ward..."Delores is evaporating. It'll be a while for him to come home.
Two people due to heart rhythm abnormalities after car accident. We call it takotsubo cardiomyopathy. Stress pressure after an accident that can affect the heart and cause chest pain and shortness of breath and cause heart rate abnormalities. One of them needs electrical shock to normalize his heart rate.
And besides that there are also fractures, others are just bruises.
Two other 18-year-old men who suffered from pulmonary oedema¹ due to hit a wall and a parked car. Doctors prescribe digoxin and diuretic therapy. But there was a history of heart rhythm abnormalities before, the doctor sent it here to be supervised.
"You have family in Dallas?" Delores is asking now.
"Fred my lover is stuck there. The isolation order was given only half an hour before he flew."
"It must be heavy for you." Delores sighed. "If this situation gets any more complicated half of us will inevitably end up in an out-of-hospital assignment. That became my mind. I've always been uncomfortable with assignments outside, reportedly 1/4 of the soldiers assigned to security. And this terrible plague I never imagined we'd bring a zombie movie into our lives." No one imagined exactly.
By noon there was shocking news. At one resort in Thailand, 15 guests and 5 employees are estimated to be infected.
Following the addition of suspensions in several other states. And an infected man attacks a village in the Arizona outback. Fortunately, he was killed by gunfire.
And that eventually this series of events triggered an action.
At 12:00 AM CST, the president declared a state of emergency for the entire state.

¹ Pulmonary oedema
Pulmonary edema is a condition where there is water formed in the alveoli and results in excess fluid in the lungs. San then this water forms a water sac in the lungs and makes the patient difficult to breathe.
