"My father doesn't serve as a security adviser anymore."
"Ohhh, how's your dad doing?"
"He was good, but he forgot a lot of things. Mother is better, my sister is fully recovered. That alone makes me grateful I thought."
"So you're taking over your father's company now?"
"Yes with my sister."
"Hmmm..." He nodded in understanding, I don't know what he had in mind. I guess somehow he'll find the way he wants to deal with me. His mind is always ahead of me.
"You're not in the military anymore."
"I officially still hold a military position, we have not been separated completely from the military arrangement, there are still many things that must be addressed even though we have given it to civilians again."
"Ohh, okay. Your position must be high by now. 3 Stars?" He just smiled. "Congratulations then, the last time we met you were still two stars. It must be very rare to be able to reach 3-star at the age like you." He doesn't deny it means right.
"Not many are also leaders of large companies in the early 30s." Replace me with a smile with her compliments.
"You don't want to. I've been helped by a lot of brilliant professionals too, without them we don't walk." I remember the man who treated my family. "Where are Doctor James and Nurse Jen now?"
I remember memories of a few years ago, they helped me a lot especially nurse Jen. He calmed me down a lot with regard to my family's condition, he also gave me advice on how to deal with Gilbert.
"They're in Miami. James leads the main hospital there."
"Miami, is it open again?"
"Here, the city of Miami is occupied again."
"It seems that you're doing a lot of great work and fast, it's just a matter of your time leading back."
He won't forgive me so easily. I told you this was gonna be hard. Uncle David doesn't believe me, even if somehow he wants to talk to me.
He was still as I remembered for these two years, the difference was that he used to casually talk to me, but now he spoke with attention to my words, suspecting me in every word.
I will muster up the courage to speak up and apologize once more
"I was desperate, I used every means to find them. No troops were allowed to enter the city. I actually knew there was a treatment that could cure him. I have to get them. I ignored your words at the time. About me being honest with you and I can ask for your help frankly. I was wrong, I was afraid that if I did that, you wouldn't take any chances either. Until now you still think I'm bad for it. Again forgive me." I thought hard about putting those words together.
He's quiet now.
"This is just part of your negotiation." A painful smile as she said I apologized to her just for the sake of negotiation.
"Yes, maybe you think so, I have to say this, you still seem to think I'm an unbelievable person. That's not good. I told you I wasn't fit in here, but I was pushed here anyway. I'm a bit pessimistic about succeeding now."
He was silent for a moment.
"It's a trade deal, not about the storming of Miss Dugard's town. It's long gone."
"I just still feel like I can't face you. You still see me as a traitor."
"Well, .. We'll see. I think you fit in here. Indeed the Brazil project is very important for us, I will study your offer with the team, I will enter the meeting tomorrow."
He is now practical again. I saw him, somehow I felt like he could laugh at me. I have faith in you, but of course I can't.
He'll never trust me again.
