I'm returning the pass to Major Hills. Coinciding with the exit of James who was reporting to the Mayor's office so I walked beside him. Along the way many soldiers greeted me. I feel like an impromptu celebrity now.
"You're famous now it looks like Tootsie?"
"Ehmm.. maybe." I smiled broadly beside him.
"Why did you go to the military office?"
"Yesterday Major Hills gave me and Laura a pass to a soup kitchen with good cuisine on Lake Toho. He's also willing to take us there so we don't have to walk."
"Ohh Major Hills."
"You know him."
"Yes I knew him, his initial assignment was in Jacksonville, he already had a wife." I looked up to him, why did he mention that Major Hills was married, did he think I was here to get the Major's attention.
"I just returned the coupon. You think I went there teasing her?"
"I just told you."
He's acting like a good brother again. I just kept quiet and didn't respond to it.
I saw Tom up ahead there, over riding chatting with Tom alone, had he eaten. Being upset with James, I'm gonna take him out to dinner. I turn in front of him.
"Where are you going?"
"Eat."
"Why turn there, the kitchen's going that way."
"I'm gonna take Tom to eat."
"Why don't you take me out to eat?"
I didn't answer, but I just wanted to go to the other end. It's strange that he doesn't want to control my personal life but doesn't want status, he can't do things like that. Because once again he's not my brother, I told him that.
"Tom, have you eaten?"
"Not yet, let's eat. Paul, Mario, eat first ." He invited the two people on his team to eat.
"I'm coming along." James was following me, I let him.
"Miss Jen, eat."
"I think I'm an artist's bodyguard." Now James insinuates me again. Andrew laughing.
"Jen, very famous lately. However, she is a nurse who takes care of soldiers affected by the infection, as well as the courage to save her own friend from the bite. About him who had been involved in special forces operations was used as an example, so some time later he was made an icon by the top officers, he said, the role model that even female medical soldiers fought for years with us on the battlefield, with food the same as us and still have the spirit of helping our friend who is struggling with infection. After all it provides a lot of energy boosting for the soldiers under Doc."
"Ahh he's made into some kind of advertising star." James nodded in understanding.
"Why are you jealous of Boss?" I grimaced wide. James just smiled he didn't say anything.
"I'm willing to be your bodyguard Miss Jen." Paul adds to the mood.
"You think there's a soldier who dares to mess with Jen, no way, that would be considered a breach of discipline here."
"You're right too. He was made an icon by the officers. There will be no soldiers who dare to tease him, which we see now just a salute."
"Great." James nodded his head. I don't know what's great. Maybe he's proud of being the foster brother I don't admit to.
"What's a great Boss?"
"You sure are."
"Why am I great?"
"You're a kind of war hero."
I quietly took a breath. Is he right he doesn't have any feelings for me. Ls i? He just thinks I'm Kenneth's sister like I used to be.
Wishing the uncertain is very painful.
"I used to have a Major's girlfriend. My girlfriend's mayor of the city safe, you know she taught me everything from self-defense, to proper shooting. He's special forces like you, and then he's trusted to lead a new safe city."
"really? You're the lover of mayor Jen? Why aren't you with him now." Paul asked directly.
"Hmm.he met his first lover whom he thought was dead and expected with all his heart."
"Wish it all your heart, you're kidding." James laughed to himself. I don't care about his response.
"I thought my life would be different in that beautiful city, but I still travel from west to east..." I told my story, Tom, Paul and Mario listened to my turmoil.
"Maybe you'll see another Jen. I'm willing to be your temporary girlfriend." I know Paul was joking.
