THE BATTLEFIELD OF LOVE

THE BATTLEFIELD OF LOVE
Part 163's. Always With You 1's

POV James

Jen left because she was upset with me. I'll handle it later. He'll understand what I'm doing in time.

There's something more important. And this should be discussed immediately to Gilbert, only he has the possibility to manage this.

"He's gone, what do you want to talk about. You know she cried in front of me all night last month because you didn't care about her at all. I feel sorry for him."

"I knew he'd be okay about it. Besides, he knows I'm next to him nowhere. But the truth is it's not about us."

"Ohh, what's the problem?"

"Actually I'd like to ask you a favor, can you arrange to slip Jen on a trip from Florida here to El Paso military base in Texas."

"Ohh, you want to move Jen to El Paso? Isn't El Paso the origin of your regiment? Why?"

"He didn't know his mother was very ill. Liver cirrhosis, most likely the only path is donor. Her mother insisted she didn't want to bother Jen, she called me to leave Jen, if anything happened to her, but I knew Jen would blame me for keeping this. A month ago I had almost no way because our job load was not possible, repatriation for whatever reason could not be done on all lines of military duty, he said, but now I see the possibility of being able to get permission."

"It turns out so."

"I can arrange for his transfer papers, by speaking to Professor Hans in Atlanta, Jen, an infection-handling instructor and his protocol, to be placed wherever he's valuable, El Paso, since the city was safe, they don't have any. But all I can't do is arrange for a safe trip. Can you help me, I know maybe you can't send it overland, do you have transport between military bases, maybe he can transit in one place, maybe somebody can drop it?"

"Oh so you want to arrange for her mother to undergo a transplant?"

"That's the only way, I don't know if she's a good fit or not, but her doctor says she needs Jen here herself. El Paso Military Hospital can do the transplant, but many tests must be done if he is willing, if he is not suitable at least he can be near his mother. And can take care of him."

"It turns out, you know I can't answer it right now. I have to ask some people."

"Yes, I know. If you can help her, this will mean a lot to her."

"I'll try to help. But I can't promise when I get the schedule. I'll work on it as soon as possible."

"You get ready, after this he'll scold you. Because he doesn't know anything." I grimaced.

"Yes, I know he's going berserk. But I also don't know how to deliver this news. He'll be even more worried. Thanks for the help, Commander."

"You helped Doc a lot too."

The conversation is over. Now Jen will be mad at me. I have to explain it tomorrow. I hope Gilbert can help.

Tootsie saw me with my face bent this morning. But keep working as usual. I'm not ready to talk to him, he'll worry after I tell him about his mother's condition. I hope there is enough time to do the transplant.

What's more important is that Gilbert can find a way to regulate his transport.

But sooner or later I have to explain it too. If not, he would be even more hurt.

"Jen..." I called him when he was done with shift and dinner.

He looked at me, threw his face away and walked into his room. I caught his hand.

"I'll explain everything. Come with me." He didn't answer anything but I was willing to take his hand.

"Where?!"

"To my room for a minute."

She sat on the small sofa in my room and did not want to see me at all. I pulled out the small chair that was there and sat in front of him.
