"What do you mean flatten?!" I grabbed Susan's arm. He dragged me into the room.
Television was singing a bombardment sent from a distance. The sky reddened as a barrage of bomb clusters were dropped from the air.
"The military is reportedly taking measures of black zone isolation. They had already deployed evacuations with armored vehicles during the day for two days, but at night the area was full of new infected so they decided to do a voice feed to the central part of the settlement leveling everything with cluster bombs." Television broadcasters explained what we saw on television.
"Ohh my God.stated." They flattened the Pleasant Grove because the infected population was too dangerous for military operations.
Did James manage to call Aunt Jane? He's on a different shift to me these two days. I haven't had a chance to talk to him.
"Where are you going..." Andrew called me, I immediately walked limping to the elevator back. I want to talk to James.
"I want to talk to James in the ER." He followed me and I held on to him again.
"I don't know if Doctor James has heard from his mother or not..."
"Ohhh... Her mother still hasn't been found apparently yesterday, my colleague said in the refugee mess they opened a line of communication. But his mother hasn't called him either."
So is it possible that Aunt Jane was the victim?
I saw James outside the ER, he leaned back while looking at his phone. He saw me coming in with Andrew and getting swept up.
"Why you?"
"I just injured my ankle from training, have you heard them flattening the Pleasant Grove? Have you heard from Aunt Jane?" Now he sighed.
"Yes I know. Arnold told me. He managed to call me. Mom wasn't found in the military sweep yesterday. We've already let it go..." He spoke slowly, I could not speak for the loss.
"I'm so sorry for your lost ..." James just nodded.
"Your father?"
"Dad was in El Paso, we told him about Mom. Arnold and his family are already heading to my place in El Paso for now."
"Thank God your father got to El Paso. I'm sorry for your loss, too, Doc..."
"Thank you, we..." Our conversation came to a halt when there was an indistinct sound of a kind of branch breaking from the direction of the garden and the dark trees, perhaps fifteen meters in front of us.
"What is that..." I directly faced the source of the sound. A shadow was clearly visible in the distance.
"WHO'S THERE! OUT!" this time a louder shout echoed, two of the soldiers who were not too far away heard it and ran over.
And just then the shadow instantly moved quickly! Three infected ran towards us. I turn my back and prepare for contact and protect myself. This is the real test of our training.
But the two soldiers holding rifles instantly finished everything. The barrage of gunfire broke the night air and infected it instantly sprawled with a shot in the head.
Alarm on, security sign breached. There's a mistake here. The block is protected by about 300 soldiers and is limited by high-voltage cables and security camera systems. How they got in.
"You go inside let security handle this..." Andrew went to check on the infected shot while more security came to the ER front.
"Jen, comein..." James pulled my shoulder while I re-sheathed my knife. "Holding on to me, have your legs been dealt with?"
"It was already massaged. Why infected can break through where they came from..."
"I don't know either. Come on Rest up, you need this sleep it's almost midnight. I'll get you, take leave tomorrow. How can you work with your feet still hurt like that. I'll set the permit to the major."
"Have you heard from Fred?"
"Not yet, I just hope he survives. There's nothing I can do from here." He promised to come back.
A series of shots were heard later.
Any other infections? We looked down from the window, some people were seen shooting at something, while a sign of the level locking protocol was seen on the television screen. All doors, elevators, windows are locked and must be secured.
Susan and the others looked out due to the danger sign. Approaching the window in front of us.
"What's up?!"
"Breakthrough, infected pass into the hospital complex..."
"What's!? Oh my God."
"They're handling it..." The shooting is over. More floodlights on for security. While the soldiers gathered and were given command by their superiors.
Still at 11 we have to face darkness at least 7 hours away. And perhaps this will not be the first occurrence for the breach of security by these human flesh-hungry predators.
