THE BATTLEFIELD OF LOVE

THE BATTLEFIELD OF LOVE
Part 42's. The Forbes List

Gilbert POV

He accepted me. That's enough, I'm having more excited days now. But there's still a lot to work on especially making good impressions in front of Albert.

"Sir, Miss Laura's coming, you want to take it?" An intercom came to my desk.

"No."

"But he's coming with his father now sir. The one who wants to meet is his father." After I always refuse if he comes now he changes his own weapon. Real nice.

"In ten minutes you have to go into the room and remind me that there's a meeting."

"Understand Sir."

His father was close to the government and the military as well. Although lately he suffered great losses, but his fighting power is still passionate. And he's Dad's best friend, I can't ignore him as directly as his daughter.

"Gilbert, how are you? I heard you just got back from Montreal to meet the main investors."

"Uncle, I'm good as always. Yes, we will in two weeks take the team there again. But they're interested in our idea, more official presentations are being put together."

"That's good, even though Uncle can't join a lot but Uncle will still come this time. Ohh yes Laura will come to Montreal can one flight, she is still afraid to go alone anywhere. He'll visit his aunt there."

"Ohh... " I had to stick with him on the flight. Just trouble. If his father knew he had insulted me so much he wouldn't dare to appear in front of me again. I should have just talked about it.

"Nothing Gilbert."

"What's wrong Uncle, but I can't accompany my schedule is crowded there. If Uncle wants I can assign someone later." Laura herself was silent behind her father, why didn't she tell herself we had an irreconcilable incident and had to go through this rambling path. He knew I wouldn't even sit with him anymore.

"Yes, it's okay. As long as he is the same hotel as you, there is a cousin who can take him everywhere. You go when."

"On the 25th of the morning we'll be there maybe 3 days."

"alright. Ohh yeah Uncle invited your Mom and Dad to dinner tomorrow at home. Uncle hope you can come." My mother knew the incident, but not with Dad, after a difficult time and now my career has soared while Laura has not found a suitable fit for their criteria.

"Sadly, Uncle wishes you could come last. Talk to Laura."

"I'm sorry I can't be Uncle."

"Laura, you don't want to say anything." The girl looked at me awkwardly, not knowing what she was saying.

We actually had no problems before, our relationship was good enough that he was only 4 years different from me, we had no problem chatting because our families visited each other often even since we were children.

Only one time I was still in two stars before being infected was rampant, I thought she was very beautiful and I tried to approach her with my pride . Usually I have no problem with any of the girls I approach, but I'm wrong with this expensive princess type.

I took her out to dinner one weekend. He wanted to, but he wouldn't be picked up. He invited me to meet at an expensive beachfront restaurant in Florida.

It's okay, I'm right. I got to that restaurant. He was alone with some of his friends maybe at that time there were dozens of people. She waved at me with a sweet face.

"Friends, this is Commander Gilbert Gillian. My friend, he just happens to be here. I know him because my father and his father are best friends."

"Commander, nice to meet you." One of the men who seemed to be some kind of 'gang head' greeted me first. "I'm Adrian Russell, A&T Technology." From the moment he mentioned the name of his company I had a bad feeling. And that went on to everyone at the table mentioning their company arrogantly.

"Gilbert Gillian." I just mentioned my name.

"You're Gillian's number." Adrian asked me.

"you mean? What number?" I tangent.

"Forbes list of 1-2000 Global Company, what number are you? Everyone here has their own number." I'm speechless.

"Why? You don't have any?" I don't know who asked after that, I don't want to remember.

"I know, a lot of commanders in this world maybe you're number 1 out of a million people,..." And one table laughed at me, including Laura. This time I felt like in a slap, they were underestimating my rank mark.

"Hey, you guys don't laugh at him, he might have a magazine to prove that, you'll be ashamed of the stars on his shoulder." Another responded with a crowd and the others whispered and laughed.

It's an insult I won't forget in my entire life.
