Gilbert POV
"You okay? Why didn't you tell me you wanted to be shot?" I was worried of course when I found out what happened to him.
And again the one who received the shot was Andrew who had proposed to him blatantly, if somehow he was touched by his courage, then with the family's insistence, maybe our chances of being together would stay a memory.
"That was two days ago. Sorry, I haven't told you yet. I'm afraid that if anything happens to Andrew, how can I tell Uncle David. I waited for the operation until three in the morning. But how do you know who told you?"
"Rachelle, I met him tonight at Warner's partner's party." Rachelle, I don't know what Rachelle told her about me and Andrew.
"Oh Rachelle...."
"You okay?" The most important thing is him. "What shot you've been arrested?"
"I'm good not scratched one bit .The man who shot me was arrested, I wasn't hurt but Andrew was blocking the shot...." He explained who wanted to shoot him there, what happened further. But more things I heard from Rachelle made me worry more.
Rachelle herself said that her parents would intervene in this matchmaking. Can her family force her to the point where she has no choice but to accept? That's what I'm most worried about.
"Rachelle said her mother said she'd talk to your mother about your relationship. Is he gonna force you."
"On that, I don't think so, Mama won't force me even if Auntie talks that way...." She's quiet. I felt he himself was unsure of his words.
"You feel like you owe Andrew that? Did he say anything to you?"
"She risked her life for me. I feel guilty for him. Even if he says he's gonna tell me I don't owe him anything. He's still in the hospital here. You know I feel awfully wrong now facing it... Brother said I should take good care of him and accompany him back to Montreal."
"He's... " Eliza is looking for the right word it seems.
"You don't have to cover anything, just tell the truth." Rachelle has revealed the truth, it seems, the Dugards and Davis are close, and I'm just an outsider who is considered a bully.
"He and Andrew have known for a long time, they're close friends, obviously he's more on Andrew's side, we already know it's not going to be easy. We need to be patient..."
"Is he against the idea of moving you to DC?" If he had known, he would have understood in our plan Eliza had to move. Did he accept this...?
"For now, yes. He didn't like to hear I had to move out and leave my place here." Obviously what is happening now, his brother already knows and prefers to support Andrew. "You don't have to worry, I don't think they're going to force me, but for now you better not move forward."
"Well, we need to be patient."
"We know it's not gonna be easy. I missed you, we haven't seen each other in a long time."
"After you get back to Montreal I'll be there."
"I'll be waiting for you."
Now we can only walk in the back while patiently expecting family approval.
