I'm sitting at the door of the afternoon triage by tonight, we have no patients just standing guard. There is news that Memphis is partly falling into a quarantine zone. There's an explosion of infection there. Even though it was about 370 miles or 5.5 hours drive from Henryetta, it made us all feel more depressed. There were 1.3 million inhabitants, the zone fell into the isolation zone then that part was probably thousands of victims already fallen.
Urban areas as long as there is no explosion of infection then it is safer because it is protected National Guard but if there is infection then chaos will be more rampant between fear of infected or chaos because everyone is looking for food for his family.
Busyness still happens for the transfer tomorrow. I saw them all preparing equipment and supplies from where I was standing guard.
“Dragon yourself here.” Andrew patted me on the shoulder as I sat resting on the quiet triage, just now there were some light patients who could be dealt with quickly. While the busyness is still going on out there until the afternoon.
“You have to take care of yourself. You're the one who went out.” I patted Andrew on the shoulder who was about to go into town and combed through every nearby supermarket to make sure our soup kitchen kept running amid the lack of stock we received. There are over 700 of these safe dishelters who must be fed.
“Let's just that we're actually just dealing with the undead who need to eat. As long as we don't take too big a risk there won't be any problems. As long as it doesn't run out of ammunition and is surrounded.”
“I hope so too. When will you be back?”
“Quickly if we can meet the vehicle with groceries we found from the nearest city here.”
“You are right, may this region soon be safe zone again.” I looked in his direction. I don't know why I feel like he's so good to me. Maybe because for a while now we were often involved together.
“Susan will lose de Angelo some time.” I suddenly turned my mind to Susan.
“Ohh, surely those two love birds will lose each other.” He laughed and we looked at him for a moment. Maybe I will also feel the loss of the person who noticed me here as well. But I'm sure he'll be fine. He'll be back in a few days.
“If all is normal again, maybe we will see a wedding party ..” If all is normal again, maybe Susan will marry DeAngelo, I'll agree to Freddie's request to get married. That's what I have in mind right now. If we were given a second chance to meet again, we would get married.
“Maybe. But the world will still be too fragile, a child will be in his hardest period for a while. I think of the babies, the mothers, they lost their homes and shelters. Very valuable thing now.” I remember the mother who was willing to accompany her son yesterday. Yes it is very painful, sad, but maybe for those two souls they have calmed down.
“Maybe next week they find a way to cure it.”
“Maybe, hopefully it happens soon. But we all still have a long fight to rise from this pandemic. Circumstances will remain difficult.”
We sat side by side for a while without speaking. Think about what is in front of us. I realized he was right eventually, the world would still struggle to rise for a while. Whatever happens in front of us will be full of struggle.
