THE BATTLEFIELD OF LOVE

THE BATTLEFIELD OF LOVE
Part 171's. The Go Home 3

Entering the door there was a voice heard, but someone foreign, I guess it was the voice of an old woman who was at least Mom's age. Mom said this woman was her everyday friend, James said she worked in the soup kitchen near our house as she could. The doctor's letter gave him the flexibility to work when he could. And this woman was the one who became her nurse in her difficult moments.

I walked in slowly, impatient to give Mom a surprise about my return. Because I can't call her, she doesn't know this.

"You want to go to work? You feeling well today?"

"Yes, we can meet friends today. It's nice chatting with them while preparing dinner." Good thing she has friends, I'm glad she's not lonely.

I'm bouncing to the kitchen door right now. Seeing her figure behind me.

"Mom, I'm home." He quickly turned around to hear my voice. I can't believe how he heard my voice.

"The gene?! That's really you. How did you get home? My God, is this really you?!" I slammed into his arms. His body became thin and frail. I want to cry hugging him.

"It's me Mom, you're not happy to see me?"

"What do you mean you're not happy to see you? How did you get here, they dropped you off the plane? Gosh gosh? No one can go home if they're on duty here, but you're a miracle you can go home." I laughed, Mama still has a sense of humor at least.

"James managed to move me back to El Paso, because I was an expert who received CDC training for infection-fighting protocols. I know you're sick, and yes I was dropped from a plane."

"You mean you landed in this town by parachute?! You serious?!" Mom believed my words so I laughed.

"No Mom, I managed to seduce a General's son to send me home in a military transport. Your son's a military nurse, but the curriculum for parachutes hasn't been included in my training."

"Gosh, you scared Mom of Jen. What if you land in a cactus field out there." I'm glad Mom can still smile and laugh.

"Mom's okay, Mom told James, apparently she told you too. He's very kind to arrange your return here."

"Yes James hid this from me at first but it turns out he's looking for a chance to get me back to take care of you."

"Ahh this is my son Gemma, he was stationed in Florida. Somehow he can go home." He introduced me to the woman who became his interlocutor.

"Aunt Gemma was happy to see you. Thank you for taking care of Mom. I don't know how he's doing without your help." I greet the woman who seems to be younger than this Mom.

"Miss Jen, you don't have to worry, we're hitching a ride at your house. It's our duty to help your mother. He followed the doctor's advice, didn't dare to touch alcohol again, rest well, eat well, you don't have to worry, he has the spirit of waiting for you to come home." This kind aunt said the same thing James told me.

"Thank God Auntie, I'm here to help Mom get things done."

"Mom told James Mom well, just a little sick." Yes Mom did say that, but James talked to his doctor himself to know the exact circumstances.

"Have it, I've been here, I'll help and get it all done. I'm glad to be able to accompany Mom again.

"Mom's glad you're home, too. It's been a pleasure not seeing you for two years. You look fine. And your job seems good too."

Mom want to go to the soup kitchen? Help out there? Go we can tell a long story later, I have to take a shower first and report to the hospital, but for a while because this is just a report. I'm not going home late, don't wait or get me food. I eat at the hospital."

"Yes well."

"Mom left first with Aunt Gemma if you say so. Mom and Aunt Gemma at 6 o'clock are done usually with retirees who work in the soup kitchen."
