Jayden turned back. As Killer Bee said, this incoming army numbered a dozen. They were wearing clothes that their comrades would never wear. They look more like a bunch of ter*ris on television. If this situation could be worse, it would be because of the other party coming for their secret operation, Zetta Sonic. When the men held up their rifles, Jayden knew there was no better time to act on his paycheck.
“Running!” Alex calls out first.
“No!”
Jayden picked up the tiny device used to send messages. He rubbed the screen. Soon a wall-width door fell from the ceiling. This door closed providing perfect protection between the troops and the three others. Jayden managed to activate it right when the shot started. From behind the door, they could hear a faint commotion behind it.
Alex can only gawk.
His eyes observed how Jayden and his tiny contraption worked. The device is no thicker than half a millimeter. Made of metal material and glistened silver under the light beam. The top is a full touch screen like most smart phones. When he needs more complete features, he can open it like a folding phone.
“I've sent an emergency message from earlier. Where's the back up I asked for?” Jayden nagging himself. His hand tapped at the double touchscreen inside his device. “Sial! They use a signal scrambler.”
“What this door can be relied on?” Alex asked while gulping. Close combat and shootouts are just his dream to this day.
“Depends what kind of shots they use.”
Jayden approached his partner. “Cait! Caitlin! Wake up!” His hand shook the brown haired girl. The girl flinched. “Hey, wake up!”
Alex took his own phone. He tried to look behind the door using the camera he had just hacked. “It looks like they got a bigger shotgun, Jayden. Maybe not a bazooka, but I think we should get out of here!” reply Alex.
“You need to get out of here!” Jayden snapped back while pointing the finger. “You shouldn't be here. Me? I'm the protector of this place. I won't let them snatch Zetta Sonic from us.”
“What is Zetta Sonic-”
“Not your business!” snapped Jayden.
Alex was silent for a moment. He can't remember the last time someone yelled at him, but Jayden is definitely the most sinister. After a few seconds of being stunned, Alex knew he had to and could do something. “You need my help.”
“You're kidding?!”
“Hey, I knocked down two of your friends. You're alone. We have to work together if they want to go.”
“If you can be honest, I also want you to leave here!” Jayden gritted his teeth. It was definitely not the best option he could think of but it was definitely the only option available right now. “I don't even know who you are. You can set this all up to get Zetta Sonic.”
“I can't possibly snatch something I just found out today.” Alex sighs. “Listen, my name is Alex. I'm here to find out Mark Hill isn't Zetta Sonic.”
Right after Alex spoke, they heard a huge explosion behind the door. Jayden has put his glasses back on. He could see that the troops were indeed shooting with larger rifles. The bullet hit the door, making a great explosion and shock. It's only a matter of time until the door is destroyed.
Jayden dragged Caitlin a little to the left. There, he opened the sliding door towards the broom closet. Caitlin went inside.
“He'll kill me when he wakes up. Waitaminute! Nope, no. He had to queue his turn with Nadira and Tiger.”
Alex frowning. “By the way, you guys are real cops, ‘kan?”
“What?! ICPA is not a cop. Similar, but no,” Jayden squinted at him.
Feeling wronged, Alex hastily changed the topic. “Now how do we get out of here? There is only one way in and out, ‘kan?”
“You seem to know enough about this facility, eh?” Jayden brought his white bracelet to his face. With a few touches on its smooth surface, a hologram screen projected into the air appeared. “These people obviously want the Zetta Sonic. I'll activate the dual protection system. At least, he'll be safe.”
“We will distract those people!”
“Then? You're going to kill them?”
“No, genius! We have to catch them all. Do you always kill to solve problems?”
“No! I never and will not kill!”
“You don't sound like a criminal!”
“Indeed not!” Alex rolled his eyeballs. “Now what's your plan?”
“We are outnumbered. It is impossible to face them physically.”
“Do you guys have no traps or anything?”
Jayden thought for a moment. “We can make it.”
“What do you mean make it?”
This time, a loud voice sounded again. Not just the sound of an explosion but the sound of goods being crushed and thrown. They don't have to look to know what's going on. Jayden could've pulled down the other door, but now they need to pull those guys off the main road. The trick is pretty simple, just shoot.
Jayden fired several shots on the floor. Alex chose to save the bullet. In fact, it was quite dangerous considering that their opponents won by the number and magnitude of the weapon.
“Ke here!” Jayden ran as fast as he could.
Alex followed behind. He took the time to change his clothes to white through the bracelet he was wearing. The same color as the surroundings makes it harder to recognize, that's the idea.
Jayden took them to a large area. This area has one side of the glass wall. Alex knew they were right next to the dam. Behind that thick glass, there was a large amount of water. Suddenly, Alex knows what Jayden's plan is. Brilliant and very dangerous.
“You sure about this?” exclaim Alex.
“Sure. Now put this on and protect me. This wall is locked manual.” Jayden gave Alex his white bracelet and pointed at a faint button. Meanwhile, he ran to a corner near the glass wall.
Alex complied without daring to ask. The troops in front of him stopped and opened fire. Alex felt his breathing held back as a row of bullets shot out. Just then, the bracelet in his hand made the green protector transparent but solid. All the bullets that hit him were blown away.
“Plasma shield?” guess Alex.
Next Alex saw the door of the hall where they ran was now closed. So is the door on the other side. There is only one door on the right.
“Come!” sahut Jayden's.
Alex saw a large door coming down from the ceiling on the right side. Jayden passed by while looking down, Alex was forced to roll over to get in anyway. As soon as this door closed, Jayden opened another door. Error, wall. Exactly as Alex had guessed, the glass walls of the water retaining water were open. Alex watched it with his own eyes because the half-closed door was also made of glass.
The water splashed the crowd against the wall. The men were looking for air. Alex's breath was held. He knew they could drown. In addition, he also realized that there was something strange about the horde.
“Now, inverted position.” Jayden recaptured his bracelet and pointed his gun at Alex. “Thank your hands and don't try to do anything weird, Killer Bee! I'm different from you. I won't hesitate to shoot.”
