Feeling uneasy, Alex decides to check.
He sneaks out of the school with his battle uniform in the form of a bracelet. His heart is beating fast. Alex was more nervous than usual. Naturally, usually, he was with Jayden or at least had help from the ICPA. This time, he felt alone. The situation reminded him of the incident of Jayden's disappearance. Taking all the bad thoughts aside, Alex shook his head.
Wood Peak gym building looms ahead. The size always feels intimidating. Alex was supposed to walk down a wide road, but he slipped among the trees to be invisible to the officers. For Alex, surveillance cameras are much easier to trick than the human eye.
He managed to reach the edge of the gym building when the last shipment was completed. The gray-clothed officer got back in the car and drove away. None of them even bothered to close the doors of buildings that are usually locked and shackled by chains and locks. When it comes to Melodiza, it is not impossible that these people are under the influence of hypnosis.
Alex looked around. After being convinced that he was alone, he went into the gym. Like a school gym in general. High ceilings, floors with lines, wheeled basketball hoops, as well as holes for mounting poles and net. There's no one there. Not a single light is on. His condition was quiet and dim. Alex could even hear the squeaking of his own shoes. Everything seemed normal except for the rows of drums surrounding.
His heart beats faster when he steps. There was no strange smell coming from them. There are no oil seepage marks. All the drums look new. They glinted under the reflection of the sunlight that barged in through the window.
Sometimes Dragon Blood knew what to do rather than Alex himself. Suddenly his eyes glittered green. Alex found his ears buzzing violently for a moment. He even closed his eyes to dampen. After whatever it was passed, Alex heard the same but more faint buzz. His hand trembled when he touched one of the drums. Although his skin only touched the outside edge of the cold drum, his hands seemed to be able to feel the heat radiating from within. He knows what's inside.
Timebomb.
Alex spontaneously retreats. Panicking, he even hit the wall of the gym behind him. Himself flinch. His back felt cold, coming into direct contact with the sturdy walls of the gym. He knew he had to do something. Not get out of there, but solve the problems that are there.
Once again, Alex glanced at Zet-Arm. He still can't contact anyone. Alex took the phone, hoping to call someone. He looked for Jayden's number and pressed the green button. After hearing the operator's reply that the number could not be reached, Alex realized the spontaneous action was wrong.
Alex is looking for another number. He tried to contact Tiger, then Emil. None can connect. Alex even tried to contact his father but all failed. There's nothing he can do. He was alone. If he wants to save the school and his friends, Alex has to take it all out.
Unfortunately, Sonic is more trained to kill criminals than to help people. It seems Damon understands better than he does. He should have secured his loved ones from trouble. Sooner or later, the criminals will target him including those around him.
Alex hurriedly shook his head. There is no time to feel sorry for yourself. Under such conditions, inevitably, he had to move even if alone. Alex took a deep breath as he closed his eyes. As he calmed down and his mind began to strategize, Alex heard another voice.
The sound of a big truck. Alex doesn't even have to peek. He was shocked when a box covered in cloth was pushed through the gym door. The large box itself filled the gym door and was covered in black cloth. There are pieces of fabric that have been torn here and there. To keep the fabric from fully withered, the cloth is wrapped around by a large rope.
The box was pushed in by two pairs of iron hands. Once the box had entered, the two pairs of hands withdrew. Alex hears the door locked, followed by the crackling of the chain, then the padlock. Amongst those sounds, Alex also heard the furious voice he had heard a moment ago.
What could be worse than being locked inside a gym with pre-historic predators and bomb mountains? Someone obviously wanted himself dead.
[Hello, Alexander Hill. Or... Would you rather be called Zetta Sonic?]
“Who is it?” Alex's question sounds like a snapshot.
The voice across the phone does not belong to a human. It sounds like the sound of a machine. Engineering results. The man who had planned Jayden's abduction wouldn't be willing to call Alex in his real voice.
[How does it feel to lose someone close to you in front of your own eyes? Feel helpless? Feel useless?]
Alex could feel his right hand clutching the phone tightly. Surprisingly, his voice that came out was precisely so calm like the bottomless cold ocean water. “You're the one who kidnapped Jayden. Where is Jayden?”
[He's not with me right now. But I'll make sure he's alive.]
“What do you want?”
[You see what's around you? It was all a gift from me. Let's play, Alex. I'm sure you already know what's inside the box and what's inside each drum. You have twenty-four minutes to get everything done.]
“Psychopathic basics!”
[You should be proud. I want to bother planning everything for you. Wh-wh-what for? Just one. Awaken you if you don't deserve to be a Zetta—]
“Listen, coward! I don't care what you want! But, you better be prepared! I'll make you regret ever dealing with me!”
Alex doesn't know where all his courage is hidden behind his anger. He also did not know which was more painful. Got a call from Jayden's kidnapper or said it wasn't appropriate to be Zetta Sonic. He doesn't care anymore. He had even cut off his communication with the coward who spoke behind the sound of the machine. Put the phone on the drum. There is not a single bit of anxiety there. Alex knew he would pick up the phone without an explosion.
His gaze was adorned with green again. His blood was boiling. He was no longer frightened by the growling sound inside the box or the unsettling clicking sound. He was unmoved on the spot when an iron voice sounded. A black cloth fell onto the floor, showing a thick iron box of bars. The door's open. The artificial Tyrannosaurus Rex inside began to stick its body out while growling.
Alex squeaked as the combat uniform covered every inch of his body. He realized there were times when handing himself over to Dragon Blood was quite useful. This time, he would let that power take over.
