In order to come to the jewelry fair, Alex had to wear proper clothes. Deserve it at least tuxedo made by famous designers. There were dozens of such tuxedos in the house, if only he could take them. This time, he swallowed his ego and let the ICPA help him.
In Alex's mind, he imagines one or two after a cheap tuxedo wrapped in plastic. Usually someone brings his clothes in the room or in the car. So when he saw the storage room, Alex could not hide his surprise. It was one of the new rooms in the Special Force headquarters that he had never entered before. Each side of the wall of the room was covered by cabinets with sliding panels of gray color. A large glass stood in the middle right next to some sort of short podium.
Alex opened one of the closet doors. The hanging shelves are filled with shirt suits and each drawer is filled with belts of various brands and colors.
“Hei! Tuxedo is here.” Tiger pointed towards a different closet.
Alex turned, again realizing that the room was spacious enough to have two levels of cabinets. There was a pair of stairs near the door that turned back to each other. The two are connected via a balcony on the second floor.
Emil himself had been beside Tiger. He took out a tuxedo suit wrapped neatly in a black bag. After reading the label, she opened the cover, then showed it to Alex. “Tthink this fits.”
“We need a bolder one.” Alex shakes. He looked into the closet, carefully reading each label before finally picking up one. Inside was a red tuxedo with a black accent. “This.”
Emil and Tiger looked at each other for a moment. Tiger was beginning to understand. “You want to appear striking.”
Alex just smiled knot. “If she's upset with Willy, she must be upset with me too. I don't want him to miss a chance to prank me tonight. Fortunately, he had no idea who was behind Zetta Sonic.”
Emil and Tiger exchanged looks. Emil just mumbled slowly. “You invited bad luck.”
After Alex prepared, as usual, Tiger drove him to the town hall. The boy had brought the Zetta Sonic badge. He could wear his combat uniform at any time when needed. According to Jayden's estimation, the longest calm will only be awake for half an hour, no more.
The town hall is still as in Alex's memory. The magnificent white building, spacious garden, wide street, floodlights, tight guard and just next to the big river. Tiger, who was wearing the driver's uniform, drove the black sedan calmly towards the entrance. There were at least a dozen guards there preparing to check. Their turn will come after two more cars.
“Invitation?” ask Tiger.
“Barcode. It's on my phone,” replied Alex while pulling out his phone.
As if to tease Alex, Tiger patted her on the shoulder before getting out of the car. “Do not make a fuss before the Bug appears. And, most importantly, don't—”
“Sink,” sahut Alex. “You're the third person to talk to me like that.”
Tiger laughed out loud. “OK. You already know the rules of the game. Arrest that criminal before he steals anything from inside.”
Their car is right in front of the entrance. A security guard opened the door for Alex. He climbed a wide and short staircase and came across an invitation-checker. Afterwards, he still had to pass through the metal detector before joining into the room.
“Hai!”
Alex jerks. He didn't expect to meet so soon. Cody walked over casually. The boy looks a little different. He seems so confident. The dark blue tuxedo wrap and styled hair made her look like a child model.
“I saw you earlier. By himself? Where are your parents?” Cody asked.
Alex frowning. Throughout school, Alex never saw Cody dare to interact with him like that. Maybe it's because they're not in school or because there's something different going on in the kid's head. Alex quickly recovers from his shock. He shrugged his shoulders. “They're busy. How about you?”
“I came with mom. I thought he was chatting with some of his friends there.”
Alex felt his eyebrows twitch. Whether it was more disturbing, Cody looked so carefree or Cody came with his mother. At that place, Alex himself had caught his mother coming alone with another man. “How about you?” Alex asked back. “You like gems? The jewels? Black opal?”
“Yes, it will be a heartbreaking tragedy,” Alex said, “make the insurance.” Alex realizes that he doesn't like the boy in front of him any more. Cody's arrogance teased his own arrogance. Cody seems to know who Alex is or wants Alex to know who he is. Either way, Alex doesn't like it.
Cody giggled at hearing that. When a waiter brought a tray near them, Cody took raspberry juice. “Drink?”
Alex himself took orange juice. He was wary in case his interlocutor would deliberately spill a drink on him. Look on the bright side, if it really happened, at least Alex's tuxedo was red.
[You're restless.] Jayden's voice rang out directly in Alex's ear. To disguise communication tools, ICPA has created a magnetic earring-shaped communication tool. The shape is like a skewer earring as usual. A jet-black eye cut into a wajik.
Alex scratched his left ear, where the fake earrings were worn, as a sign to keep Jayden quiet. Even so, Alex did relax his shoulders driving away the tension. “I heard about skiing accident.”
“Oh, yes!” Cody finished his drink. “My father sued the ski resort for not providing safety marks on dangerous trails.”
“I hope the accident didn't make you. changed.” Alex had trouble picking the end word.
“No, no. Instead, the accident made me realize who I really was and what I wanted. We don't know when we're gonna die, do we? So, better just enjoy every moment of this life.” Cody laughed a little. “Sorry, I sound a little melancholy. That's all I thought about when I was in the ambulance.”
“You recovered quickly. That's a good thing.”
“Ya, of course.”
Alex was about to speak again when he saw the figure he knew. The tall man with pocky hair is like a red soldier. How hard he mingled within the crowd, the suit could not hide his burly posture like an army. The man darted within the crowd after throwing his faint smile at Alex.
Jayden saw it too. [Naray? In here?]
“What's up?” Cody asked then turned in the direction Alex was looking at.
Alex took advantage of the opportunity. He slipped an object as small as a button into Cody's tuxedo bag. Then, he only answered when Cody turned to him. “I saw my acquaintance there. I'll greet him. See you later, Cody.”
“See you later, Alex.”
Alex nodded and immediately walked away.
“Do not make a fuss, yes.” Cody chuckles.
Alex turned around. He wasn't sure if he heard Cody talking just now. The boy had walked away from his place as well. Alex shook his head, recovering himself. “This is getting weird.”
[Cody or Naray?]
“Two. I put the transmitter in Cody's shirt. Watch him.”
[Where are you going?]
“Check Naray.”
