For those in charge of the Zetta Sonic covert operation, things would be simpler if Alex were to die. Faraway. More. Unostentatious. Making death letters, falsifying news and excuses of death, covering up everything would be easier than if Alex had survived. Professor Otto is well aware of this.
On the other hand, this operation itself is already costly and lasts quite a long time. Not for a year, really. Professor Otto and Caitlin used to conduct their research in the secret laboratory of the Sinde branch of the ICPA. Only at the beginning knew this, Nadira made them special facilities and then placed special personnel as well. Everyone is checked how secretive the operation they are doing right now. The news can't leak out.
In fact, the news was now spread out to nowhere and by whom.
Nadira did not stop making a sullen face all the way to Alex's room. He still had time to check some damage before he went into the room. Eventually this Sinde leader arrived there some time after Caitlin.
“Report?” the question is not friendly.
Doctor Vanessa explains how Alex's current weakness is also likely to persist. Professor Otto fluttered beside the glass capsule with a wrinkled forehead. Caitlin was lazy to be there. He himself is upset about letting himself be defeated by Alex just like that and instead wakes up in a broom closet.
As his thoughts drifted erratically, a communication connection was heard from the other side of the room. Nadira did install a communication network tool that can be connected from every room.
Dr. Vanessa turned towards the dark side of the room where the blue lights were flashing. He sighed softly while opening up the communication network. “From the treatment room. Don't tell me Jayden's in pain or anything.”
The communication network opened after the doctor's slim fingers rubbed the tablet PC screen. A hologram screen floated in the air, showing Jayden's messy and somewhat pale look. The screen was actually quite far away from them, but no one intended to approach. Jayden's image and voice should be quite clear from their current position in the middle of the room.
“Hai, Jayden. Anything I can do for you?” Doctor Vanessa asked softly even though she hoped that she would not have to leave Alex's room at the time.
Before Jayden could answer, Nadira had replied first. “I didn't call you!”
That's the challenge of having an unfriendly boss. If Jayden hadn't told Nadira about Alex's identity, she would have been furious. If Jayden gives that information as soon as possible, he'll still be gushed. Any choice will make it rummaged. Given the mess he had made, Jayden chose to leave the burden to Nadira. He's their leader. He was the one who should have made the decision after knowing who Dragon Blood's victim was.
As soon as Marcus Anthony Hill's name was mentioned, silence filled the room. It did not take long, this silence turned into an invasion of gaze at the leader. Nadira bends his wrinkled face. His fingers were clinging under his chin, as if he wanted to pray but not. He was thinking.
“Are you sure?” Nadira asked as if he wanted to sneer at Jayden's important information.
[Positive.] It's not the first time Jayden has been questioned today.
“So, Mark tried to take Zetta Sonic from me to send his own son to the battlefield? Absolutely disgusting!”
[I'm actually not sure about that.]
“Explain, Jayden! I don't want to play guessing with you.” Nadira never wanted to guess. He demanded a quick and demanding explanation so that he could immediately make the necessary decisions.
[Look, I initially detected a data leak in the Regis branch of ICPA.]
“You said it was Killer Bee!”
“Terden! It's still data theft! The point is, he's here because you're a hero! That's ICPA Regis branch not us! If you hadn't sent the virus to their data thief, this kid wouldn't be here, Jayden! ”
Jayden took a deep breath. [I'm not trying to be heroic. I'm just doing my job as one of the ICPA members.]
“Forget about ICPA! I've already transferred you to this special operation!”
Jayden was tempted to continue the debate because Zetta Sonic is part of the ICPA. In order to reduce heartache and fatigue, Jayden chose silence first.
Nadira was still screaming. “Even if you can see everything that is happening in the ICPA system, I never told you to help any branch, Jayden. That's their problem. In that case, it was a matter of the Regis branch not the Sinde branch let alone this particular team! Your axiom made Zetta Sonic sticking out!”
Suddenly, the tools near them buzzed loudly with a slow alarm. Along with that, Alex inside the capsule started thrashing. His body was strapped to safety and his eyes were tightly shut, still in an unconscious state. However, the shock he caused was quite strong. It was so strong that the capsule he was lying in shook.
No one dared to come near except the doctor. Vanessa can see how Alex's body is spasm. Actually, the term seizure is less suitable here. Alex's body seemed to want to rebel out of its bindings. Something inside Alex gives enough energy to move around endlessly.
Vanessa hastily checks Alex's condition through panels attached around the capsule. His heart rate is still the same, as are blood pressure and other indicators. Starting to fret, Vanessa now ensures that the security is still installed. For him, Alex looks like a human being who is turning into a zombie.
Caitlin glanced at the professor. “What is this normal, prof?”
Professor Otto fluttered on the spot. “We don't know what's normal in these kinds of conditions, Cait. Better, we pray that he doesn't explode.”
Jayden, who was not there, waited anxiously.
For the next few moments, there was only the sound of drone and capsule shocks. The weirdness only lasted for a few minutes, but it felt like hours. The silence returned under different circumstances.
Caitlin scowled, her heart pounding incoherently. Professor Otto took a chair to sit down, his knees giving up if he had to stand for a long time while listening to their leader furiously or seeing Alex's uncertain condition. The only one who dared to speak was the doctor.
“Alright, that was quite surprising,” he said softly. Then, he turned to Jayden, “Until where we were?”
“Enough! You take care of this kid. I need time to think.” Nadira turned to Henrietta, a gesture to get out of the room.
[Wait! Listen to me first!] Jayden pleaded this time. [Try to think well. Alex doesn't need to steal data from Regis's branch if he's on Regis' side.]
Jayden's words made the people in the room look at each other.
“Good, that thought is quite reasonable, Jayden.” Nadira's voice softened somewhat this time. “It looks like Alex stole data from his own father without knowing that Marc Hill is the ICPA leader of the Regis.” branch
