Alex let the system and its operators work just fine. The pair manage to discover Cody's secret. There's a collection of tiny insects that help him do all the stunts.
Dozens, hundreds, maybe even thousands of tiny specks were all around Cody. To be more precise, they went around his legs and hands. It is the same size as a mosquito but its transparent color is difficult for the naked eye to see. With the help of ICPA technology, Alex can see the secret of the Bug.
[It's not a real insect. Some kind of technology I have to admit is pretty smart. They resist the force of gravity and are made of fibers that barely reflect light. They can escape the surveillance cameras but not from the ICPA.]
“What can they do?” alex whispers to Jayden. While on Cody, he said, “I'm not a hero. Just because I'm on the side of the ICPA doesn't mean I'm a defender of the truth.”
Alex's words left Cody stunned for a moment.
Jayden continued his observations. [Rather than mosquitoes, they look more like ladybugs. Six tiny hands like needles. One eye serves as a radar. Nearsighted but able to move without bumping into each other. A pair of thin, boneless wings. If they move alone, they are no different from ordinary ladybugs. But, in such large numbers, they were quite troublesome.]
Cody finally laughed. “Wow! That's supposed to be me. I never thought I'd hear that from Zetta Sonic. What does the ICPA think when it hears it? Ah, wait! I'm more curious what the thoughts of the criminals you captured? Do you think they will be upset or even happy after realizing that Zetta Sonic moves only because of wages?”
The ICPA heard it. This time Tiger. [He's like you, Alex, but it's more annoying.]
Alex can't wait to catch Cody. Half of him was eager to open the helmet of the combat uniform and let Cody see his face. He wanted to know how Cody reacted. Alex is not moving on a wage basis, he has not even earned a wage during his stint as a Zetta Sonic — at least, so far.
“How about you?” Alex asked back. “What do you think after meeting me? You think you're better than me?”
“Of course!” Cody answered so quickly that Alex barely finished his sentence.
[Have you wanted to punch him?] Jayden's voice is back.
“No need to ask!” alex was barely making a sound.
[Good news, I found the controller. The bad news is, we can't take it off because it's in his eyes. The tools are just like the insects. Almost invisible. It was a contact lens in his left eye.]
“Let's see!” Alex smiled knot. He only needed to hear half of Jayden's sentence, that's what he wanted to know. Without speaking again, Alex had already jumped so far in front of Cody.
He knows what's coming next. The insects move in unison. They gather around Cody, making the boy float in midair, making him escape Alex's capture.
With the help of the system, Alex can now determine his next move. Cody did not realize that the insects instead managed to make him escape, quite the opposite. If they are visible, it will be effective. However, as long as the ICPA system can recognize and lock their focus, the insects are not beneficial to it. They tell exactly how Cody can move, they even tell where the next move is going. Alex stayed to see where the insects were gathering.
This time Cody had indeed floated into the air. However, it won't be long. Alex pulled out his gun, preparing to take aim.
Cody laughed too. “You think you can shoot me?”
Alex smiled knot. He knew Cody couldn't see his expression. He also knows Cody doesn't know where Alex is going to shoot. His opponent floated in the air casually and instead folded his hands as if challenging Alex. The transparent insects were under his feet, becoming his pedestal and restraint so as not to fall.
“I'll give you a chance,” Alex said. “If you give up now, maybe the ICPA will consider leniency for you.
Cody laughed out loud as well.
“Good,” says Alex again, “forget.”
“I had expected the insects would only move at your command. You can't give the correct command if you don't know where I'm going to shoot,” Alex said.
“You... Ka— You can see it?”
“Still think you're better?”
Cody blinked and then chuckled. “I didn't expect ICPA to finally uncover that trick. But why should I be afraid? You won't shoot,” said Cody. “Zetta Sonic was not created to kill. ICPA never ordered you to kill criminals.”
“True. Don't force them to tell me. Just surrender. Take that device out of your eyes. ICPA has surrounded you.”
“If I don't want to?”
“I'll force you.”
Cody laughed again. “You won't shoot.”
“Indeed no.”
Alex held out a hand. Cody also spontaneously withdrew. Unfortunately, since most of his bugs had been shot, he couldn't do much. The movements he thought about remained in his mind. The insects are unable to pull Cody out of Alex's grip. How strong Cody struggled, the result was nil. Alex takes the boy over the big river. Their position is quite high, higher than the highest diving board of the pool.
The protest came from Jayden. [Alex. What the hell are you doing? Take it ashore. There's a team ready to catch him.]
Instead, Tiger was supportive. [It's going to be an interesting show!]
“Let go of me!” pinta Cody's. The insects swarmed his feet, trying to free him. As a result, his shoes slipped off and fell into the river. Seeing how his shoes disappeared in the dark water, Cody was silent for a moment. “You won't do it,” Cody said again.
“Really? You challenge me?”
“Yes! Drop it, I'll escape and counter-attack you.”
Alex doesn't like to be challenged. More so was being challenged by a child like Cody who made him annoyed by arrogance. Alex also let go of his grip.
Cody disengaged. The boy tried to balance himself but was unsuccessful. Insects cannot carry them flying. Cody hugged his own body, closed his eyes tightly, then fell in cold, dark water.
On the riverbank, it is not just the ICPA team that is ready. Naray was also there, on the other side with a long muzzle gun.
Jayden's warning came too late. [Alex! Get out of there!]
The rifle was fired.
Alex felt tremendous pain. His nose smelled of blood. His eyes flashed green even though his own gaze had turned blurry. His head turned, looking for the culprit. Among all those sensations, there was one that stood out the most. Anger. And, he knew who should accept it.
