The Zetta Sonic

The Zetta Sonic
Drizzles

Training in an abandoned building becomes Alex's new daily life. He attended school as usual in the morning and his night spent there training the power of Dragon Blood within him. Tiger picked her up every time sleep came. Three days in a row, Alex fights a giant spider.

Now, he's bored.

That day, drizzles flushed at the site of an abandoned building. Thin mist descending accompanies. Cold air. Jayden wore a sweater and jacket while Alex felt warm inside his combat uniform. While Jayden was jealous of the uniform technology, Alex was envious that others could enjoy a warm chocolate and snack while he was stuck with a Zetta Sonic helmet.

“I thought you said that one spider was too easy for me.” Alex protested. This is the last time this week. Sometimes he protests before and after training, making Jayden bored.

“I told you that Nadira wants your training to go on schedule. Just slow. After all, you didn't give it as high a value as we expected.”

“What's your height?”

The conversation stopped when they saw Professor Otto entering the tent. As far as Alex is concerned, the professor usually monitors from elsewhere. Looks like the professor observed from the medical container with Dr. Vanessa. Just this time, Alex met again with professor Otto in person.

“Hai, Alex!” Professor Otto gave a smile to her.

Jayden patted his forehead, Tiger sighed deeply. Alex himself realized that the professor had just mentioned his real name in front of other ICPA colleagues. Nadira wants to keep Zetta Sonic's identity a secret. It seemed, this grandfather had forgotten and did not care about his identity.

Without making up his mind, the professor patted Alex on the shoulder. “Today your training went into phase two. Are you as excited as I am?” The professor's smile felt different when coupled with wide eyes. His smile made Alex shudder in horror.

Jayden continued. “Nadira gives permission for some spiders today. There were five inside the building, scattered in various different locations. You have thirty minutes to destroy them all before the bomb goes off.”

“Wait!” sahut Alex's. “What? Hows it? Bomb?”

“Do not worry, this time I will guide you.” Jayden's facing the computer. He opened the abandoned building scheme. “This time, I also don't know where the spiders were placed early. I can't trace the whereabouts of their chips either. Tiger can access it. He's in the car now so I can't peek at him.”

Even if Alex's face was covered in a helmet, he sure had just exchanged a smile with Jayden. The young man could have hacked the ICPA system to find out the existence of the spider chips. But, given that they were training, Jayden had to pretend he couldn't hack the system. It's cheating.

“Oh, yes. I've also upgraded the system inside the Zetta Sonic helmet. So, I can see everything you see from here. More clear, more real.”

Alex gave a glance. He didn't see Jayden's drone today. “So, you are also prohibited from using drones to help me? For example helping shoot or something?” Alex guessed Nadira's thoughts precisely.

“Nadira denied the time I said so. But, it seems that is indeed the reason for prohibiting me from carrying a drone today.”

Jayden shrugged his shoulders. “As long as you can finish it within half an hour, no problem.”

Professor Otto glanced at the young man. “Do not hinder Alex, Jayden. He could finish off the spider as fast as he wanted. Do your job correctly!” Professor Otto turned. He sat down at the other officer's side, in front of the other computer screen.

“So that happened between you?” alex asked, half whispering.

“What happened has happened a long time ago. No need to think about.” Jayden typed something on the computer. His face itself is on the screen. That's exactly what Alex is seeing right now. “So, get out there and finish them!”

Alex walked out of the tent. With the speed he got from Dragon Blood, Alex reached the building quickly. Within days, Alex felt more free to use his powers. He could use it more quickly and supple, no fatigue or pain. The energy indicator has not decreased either.

According to doctor Vanessa, her body was getting used to Dragon Blood. Both of them are stable. This is the thing that calms him down. Alex could laugh at how he had fainted just a moment ago and got into the hospital. Fortunately, he was allowed to go home that day.

However, because of the incident, Alex feels his relationship with Leta becomes closer. The girl wondered if Alex was really anemic, not exhausted after fighting the boxer's son. Alex is desperate to deny both. Unfortunately, that would make the explanation even more difficult. Alex lets Leta and the rest of his friends think he's anemic. It's more human.

Alex walked down a muddy road to the building. His uniform is now soaked. The view from the helmet remained clear. All systems work well. There's nothing to worry about about the bomb. Deep down, Alex was sure like Jayden, there would be no explosions there. Alex even suspects that they used a real bomb. The explosion will trigger a commotion even if the location is far from the crowd. Nadira certainly didn't want that to happen. According to Alex, it was just a bluff.

As in previous days, Alex approached the room for an elevator. He fired a hook, making it a shortcut straight to the tenth floor. These few days, he was lucky enough to find an opponent from the floor. The tenth floor was the base of the upper floor which had a void. That is, from the tenth floor, he could see straight up to the fifteenth floor. Like the elevator room that hasn't been finished, it's just that it's bigger.

Alex closed his eyes, letting his hearing sharpen. A rustling sound was heard from several angles. It's only natural to remember there are five spiders there. The thing is, he heard more than five different angles. The rain made his hearing not as accurate as before. The sound of the crackle even disturbed his concentration.

“You see something from there, Jayden?”

[Not yet. Just debris and a broken chair.]

Alex remembers killing one spider on that floor. He remembered the old wooden chairs, but he remembered that they were dusty and not broken. Alex found the spider's wreckage yesterday. The yellow slime littered the walls but there was no carcass of spiders there.

“Jayden, does ICPA come in here to clean-up?”

[Negative. It was a waste of time.] Jayden fell silent, understanding Alex's suspicions. [Be careful, Sonic. I've heard that female spiders eat male spiders. Right now, we're dealing with an experimental spider. We do not know the extent to which the habits of the original animal are attached.]

“Agree. I'm also sure that he's still hungry.” Alex squinted to the floor as a yellow droplet of liquid fell onto it.
