The Zetta Sonic

The Zetta Sonic
The Unknown Caller

Perhaps a quiet life is not entirely suitable for Alex or Jayden. Jayden also felt a sense of awkwardness in that calmness. There is no mission call. All under control under Fergus. ICPA agents can handle it. They don't need the Zetta Sonic, at least for now. There is no threat of deadly computer viruses or system hijacking. All too quiet. However, it was only the calm before the storm. Jayden knows. He has experienced it many times.

Jayden pulled himself forward closer to the computer screen. The screen in front of it has a large hologram screen whose size can be changed with just a touch of a hand. He can add whatever screen he needs.

There's a screen showing the ICPA robot repair over there. Fergus fixes his robot and starts thinking about producing several units at once. They made their blueprints based on the killer robot Nikola Shah. ICPA robots have lower artificial intelligence. It aims at strengthening control of the center. Also be on the lookout for anyone trying to take over the system.

There is also a screen that shows the latest news in the world. He could see everything that was going on out there. Whether it's in Regis or on another continent. Sometimes the news changes about the stock market upheaval. White-collared criminals sometimes play the game digitally.

“Too quiet.” Emil said the sentence at last.

“Hei!” Tiger protested. The big man was playing games from his smart phone. He sat casually on a soft chair while his feet were on the meeting table. Although Tiger was in the lower part, he could hear Emil's faint complaints. “Don't say that, boy!”

“I'm not a kid.” As Emil recalled, Tiger only called Alex with the designation ‘bocah’.

“Good. Don't say that, boy number two! Usually bad things will happen after someone says the word again. Multicar. It's like a taboo word here.”

“Which one? Calm?” guess Emil.

“Hei! I told you, don't say it!” exclaim Tiger.

Jayden chuckles. They should not be afraid of saying certain words. They are not trying to challenge the world to give problems. The problem will come on its own. It's just a matter of time.

Just finished thinking, a new screen appeared. The problem.

The screen appeared above the other hologram screen. It was a phone call from outside. The network is encrypted and cannot be seen by just anyone. The thing is, the person who knows Jayden's number is definitely not just anyone.

“Hey,” Jayden said to his two colleagues. “We get calls from strangers. How about I turn it on the loudspeaker?”

Before Jayden did, he first displayed the call on the big screen. It contained only foreign numbers along with emblems to receive or reject calls. The sound of ringing filled the entire room. There was only one button left and they could hear who was behind the call.

“Who?” ask Tiger. “Don't tell me that you gave your number to a girl and she called you at work like this.”

“It's not a personal number. That's ICPA number,” reply Emil. “What is the phone number of other agents?”

Like other ICPA members, Special Force members also get a special number to use in connection with the mission. Their caller made a call on Jayden's ICPA number. For a guy like Jayden who understands the dangers of cyberspace, he obviously wouldn't just give his number to someone else.

“Jayden has the number data of all agents in Regis. If it was an ICPA number, the system would know. Didn't you?” Tiger asked as he glanced at Jayden. “I'll bet that it's from old enemy Zetta Sonic.” Tiger changed the guess.

“What did he contact? Giving threat?”

“Maybe. For example, he wants to spread terror. Oh, or maybe he kidnapped someone and tried to suppress Jayden?” Tiger and his ridiculous theory succeeded in making the other two frown.

“No, we didn't hijack it. I mean, the robot was not even registered as a trademark in the first place, ‘kan. That's a killer tool.”

“We modeled his design.”

“We do not follow the purpose of its manufacture. We built a robot that could fight them. After all, this isn't the first time we've done such a thing.”

“Instead it. That's their reason. Make a call here. Maybe the call contained a virus. Or, maybe a hypnotic sound. Or, maybe brain-damaging waves.”

Tiger was silent for a moment and turned to face Jayden who was behind. “What wave? Is that possible?“ ask Tiger. Jayden did not answer, just shrugged. “Then, don't rotate it on the loudspeaker,” he added.

Jayden chuckled at the debate between his two colleagues. Who wants to argue over the secrets of blueprints and killer robot brand holders? The ICPA has long sought to create such robots. When they confiscated Nikola's robot, they completed the robot much ahead of schedule.

“Alright,” says Jayden. “Let's listen.”

Jayden picked up the call and a voice was heard. The voice of a woman with a low boisterous background. [Hi! Sara. I just landed. How about we go shopping for the bag you told me about the other day?]

“Caitlin?” ask Tiger. He recognized the girl's voice. “I think you are wrong number.”

[Yes, that limited edition bag. You said you were going shopping with me, remember? But, until now you have not told where the shop is. How about we all have coffee together before shopping.]

“You are misconnected,” Tiger said again.

However, as if ignoring Tiger's words, Caitlin continued to talk. [Ah, I know. How about we go to Hummingbird Cafe? It's a pretty close distance from here. Maybe I can get there at eleven. I miss their cream puff. Or do you have a suggestion of another place that is also comfortable to chat?]

Tiger snorted in annoyance. “He did not listen at all.”

“No,” says Jayden. “I think he's trying to tell us something. Cait, is Baron with you? If so, tell me about clothes.”

[Perfect. Then, I'll wear a light brown leather jacket. You can wear the same and we can take photos together.]

The three men in the room threw eyes at each other. Something was wrong in that call. Caitlin didn't want Baron to know he was calling the ICPA. He disguised his call.

“Cait, are you in danger?” ask Jayden again.

[See you at Hummingbird, Sara. Don't be late, yeah!] The call was cut off.

Emil and Tiger spontaneously turned to Jayden.

“Good, that's pretty weird. And, eleven is not thirty minutes away,” Jayden said. “Emil, contact Nadira. Tiger, go to Hummingbird Cafe but keep your distance and don't come in until I make sure it's not a trap. Don't forget to bring a gun. I'll call Alex.”
