Mrs. Bellsey is a smart woman and dedicated to her work. He did the madam's orders to watch over her son well. Provided Alex finishes schoolwork, tells her where she's been going, how long she's been out of the house, and her cell phone can be reached, Mrs. Bellsey usually gives permission.
Putting aside Alex's skills outside of schoolwork makes it hard to realize Alex's tricks. If anyone understood Alex better in that house, Preston would have been. Alex was not so surprised when he realized that Preston was behind the wheel, not the usual driver.
“Night trip, Alex?” Preston throws a smile at the rearview mirror. He knew his employer was looking there. Without waiting for a response, Preston drove the car slowly across the yard to get out the gate of the house.
“Good!” Alex threw his hand into the air. “You caught wet myself.”
“Group tasks and stay at a friend's house?”
“No group tasks.” Alex could be more open with Preston. “I'm just bored.”
“You sent a message to be escorted to Riley's house.” Preston read the electronic message he sent to the driver. “We stay there.”
Alex threw his eyes out the window. The car runs smoothly on paved roads. That night was pretty bright. The moon shone softly accompanied by a star that was immersed in the light of a great city.
“Change plan.” Alex realized that there was no need to play a show. “I'm looking to see a dam.”
“Bend?”
“I read articles, history, and some interesting happenings there. I thought I wanted to see it more clearly.”
Preston smiles. “They said the internet brought a lot to you.”
“True.”
For some reason but now Preston's words felt stifling in his heart. The internet has brought so much to her. Started a variety of interesting facts to his mother. Alex is pretty sure the journalists and photographers spent more time with his mother than he did. At least he knows where his mother is at the moment.
“What are you thinking about madam, Alex?” preston asked as if he could guess what was on the boy's head.
Alex spontaneously snorted amusedly. “I have plenty of time to think about it. But, not tonight.”
Tonight is the night to reveal the whereabouts of her father.
The dam looks gallant as well as intimidating up close. Not only high and wide, but the moss that was left to grow wild disturbed Alex's comfort. For a second, he thought that coming there was a mistake. Maybe it's better if he calls dad and asks where he is. However, given that the phone and electronic messages are rarely responded to, Alex again made up his mind.
“Play, Preston!”
“I'll wait here until you get back,” Preston said as Alex opened the car door while turning around, checking things out.
“No, Preston. Go home. I'm going to Riley's house done looking at the reservoir. I said get to his house about ten.”
“I don't think there's group work.”
“Indeed no, we'll just play all night.”
“Good, Alex.”
Finished closing the door, Preston drove back leaving Alex in a daze. He slipped between the trees. His eyes were watching the road surveillance cameras. The calculations should be correct. Preston stopped in a position covered in tree leaves. He who gets down from the car will not be seen. Of course unless there's another surveillance camera.
Alex opened the bag, took out a black suit and put it on top of his clothes now. He had changed his shirt and trousers before leaving the house. The black suit managed to withstand the cold of the night and the humidity, just as he wanted. He ordered it directly to a special store. Material is military grade. With a fake identity, the store thought it was selling it to a real spy in disguise instead of a schoolboy.
Alex glanced at his watch. If he wanted to be safe, he only had an hour inside. Then, she could call a taxi online and head straight to Riley's house. Of course he had contacted Riley before. He doesn't want Mrs. Bellsey or her mother went straight there and found herself not there. He had also taught Riley if it had happened before he arrived, saying Alex was stopping by to buy an extra snack.
Lying is not a good thing. He can do it smoothly. Too smoothly. Like he was born for it. Sometimes this is a funny joke among friends. But, deep down, he knew it was nothing more than a mistake.
His hand grabbed the game console, pressed the red button, and opened it like a compartment. Alex made it so himself. The game console is nothing more than a box to store dangerous toys. A gun with bullets. Of course he also bought this item with a fake identity and a fake account. He doesn't need a real gun, he just needs a simple handgun to keep himself. Again, he went there to check on not kill someone.
The bad feeling came back to haunt him. Starting from hacking, spy clothes, pistols, shooting exercises to other hidden things. He felt it was excessive. Unfortunately, Alex didn't have time to think about it all. He dismissed all doubts quickly.
It's time to move on.
Before he got there, he had checked his way in and out. First, he had to leave his luggage before entering. The back door is always locked. That's where the mistake lies. The big padlock was much older than him. The ancient object did not struggle much when Alex pulled it off with a glove-clad hand.
Alex looked around. His condition was not much different from the data he had found before. Multiple surveillance cameras and multiple blind spots. Even so, he still passed by cautiously.
The back is hard and dry ground. Not much weeds can grow. Several large drums lined up on one side while there were wooden crates stacked on the other. Alex expects the place to be seedy and smell like a landfill. In reality, the place only looked neglected. It was as if someone was always cleaning it but wanted to give the impression that the place was abandoned.
Alex stopped when he saw the main building of the reservoir. Before he could get close let alone get inside, he had to shut down the security network. Time for Killer Bee to hit the ground running. Alex grabs his phone, does something there, then focuses his eyes on one of the nearby security cameras. He saw how his red blinks disappeared. Killer Bee made it freeze. The supervisor would not see the real condition but the still image at the last second before Alex opened the door.
While tiptoeing, he arrived before the back door as well as the emergency exit of the reservoir. Like the action movies he used to see, he needed to pull out the gun this time. Doubt is back. The game could end dangerously. There are a million ways in which conditions will not go as they wish. Alex keeps the gun in his belt.
In exchange, Alex took the key unlocking tool. He picked one of his chains and then put it in the keyhole. Just in, the door was pushed back. The door was unlocked as if it had been waiting for his arrival. Usually, this kind of door invites danger.
