The Zetta Sonic

The Zetta Sonic
Spiders

None of Jayden's or Tiger's answers gave Alex an answer. At least he got a lead. The spider was alone and its size must have been huge. Errata. According to Alex, the size may be gigantic. Depending on the size, he may ask how they got the giant spider.

Before entering, Alex gets another addition. He got a Zet-Arm-like bracelet. However, this one was wider and plain black in color. Its function is to throw a hooked rope. Jayden said Alex would need it.

At the moment, Alex is walking alone on the first floor of the building. From his position, he could see the position of the tent from afar. The tent looked so small while the first floor of the building felt so spacious. Especially the ceiling is high. The walls were already covered in plaster although there were some parts that had peeled off. Dust and thick debris adorn the floor. The night wind blew fiercely there, breaking through each side of the hole and carrying a gripping atmosphere. The atmosphere is so calm.

Alex is not a fan of thrillers, nor is he afraid of monsters or ghosts. Besides, he's not alone. There's a Jayden drone overseeing the drill. However, something there made him fret.

[Your heart rate is rising. You scared?]

Alex denies when Jayden's words are heard. “Neg. I feel excited.”

[Good. Just continue your search.]

“Easy for you to talk. I'm here looking for something while you're there relaxing. Why don't you want to tell me directly where the target is.”

[As long as you relax at school, I'm busy working on equipping the Zetta Sonic. Now it's your turn to work and I'm relaxing.]

“You don't want this exercise to finish faster?” Alex moved to the second floor using the stairs. He found an elevator structure without an elevator. So, there is no other way but to take the stairs to move the floor.

[You don't seem to understand what you can get in this exercise?]

“Let me guess. Hunter instincts?”

[It's just one of them. There will be many missions like hunting. You can't always count on the operator finding your target all the time. Stop complaining and do your job. You've only been in there not fifteen minutes.]

Alex sighs. He knows Jayden's right. It's only been fourteen minutes. He could see the time through Zet-Arm. The bracelet this time was gray. Alex managed to find a way to change the overall color of his bracelet in order to match his uniform. Somehow the Zet-Arm had always been on top of his combat uniform.

The second floor of the building does not have much difference with the first floor. If the opponent is a spider, maybe he's on a higher floor ready to ambush prey. Alex expects the emergence of opponents hanging from the top floor or from the dark side of the building. Even if observed, all sides of the building are currently in darkness.

Were it not for the help of his helmet, Alex would have had trouble seeing. The helmet is equipped with motion and heat sensors and infrared to see in the dark. So far, he hasn't seen anything other than walls, debris, dirty tarps, or any handyman tools left behind.

Alex doesn't know how many times he's changed floors. Maybe this is the tenth or twentieth floor, he's getting bored. “You don't want to give me any help?”

[I sent you some files. You must not have read it, huh?”

“I've read it all.”

[Then, what new things did you learn from Dragon Blood?]

[Hey, you want to leak everything to everyone here?] Jayden reminded that their colleagues can also listen to the lines of communication being used. [I mean, what did you learn about Dragon Blood's abilities or at least the initial goal expected from the experiment?]

“Making agent super.” Alex draws conclusions from the file Jayden sent in one short sentence. He could hear Tiger laughing and Jayden sighing. Then, Alex realized something else. “Dragon Blood should be able to store energy and turn it into the capabilities that its users need. Super speed, super power ... Can I use it for super hearing?”

[Just try it, genius!]

Alex closed his eyes. He did not understand how to use his real power. He only knew that power always came when needed. As the scene flashed green, he knew he had managed to use Dragon Blood. Alex concentrated on all the sounds. The wind sounds louder. There was a faint sound in between.

The source is two or three floors above his current position. Alex moved to the elevator side. From there, she can move to any floor using her new hook. Alex held out his right hand. His black bracelet fired a strappy black bullet. The bullet then forms a kind of anchor attached to the beam. Everything happened exactly as he wanted. The only thing that happened outside of his expectations was just a jolt from the bracelet.

As soon as the hook is stuck, the bracelet pulls itself towards the hook. Alex was stunned. Aided by quick reflexes and Dragon Blood, he could swing to the desired floor. Unfortunately, he forgot the resulting swing effect. He also made an emergency landing on dusty land. Again, Alex hears Tiger laughing with Jayden.

Alex doesn't have time to nag or improve his looks. His eyes caught a bunch of red glow from within the darkness. Spider eyes. When the creature came out into the light, Alex knew that all his predictions were correct. A giant spider as tall as a truck with legs as sharp as a spear.

“Can I seriously kill him? This is not a rare creature or something?”

[Don't worry. There are more in the warehouse.]

“What? A shed? You guys developed a giant monster?” Alex retreated as his opponent walked closer.

[Not. This spider is one of the mad scientists' experiments. We captured the scientist and used his research to do better. Your training, Zetta Sonic. Try not to get hurt and damage any equipment.]

Alex sighs. He now understands why Nadira made sure that Alex was only afraid of bees. Alex did not think that Nadira had creepy monsters in the ICPA warehouse. Given the existence of Zetta Sonic himself, Alex so increasingly have a picture of what kind of opponents he will meet.

“Is there a bonus if I finish it faster than an hour?”

[Don't force your luck. Quickly finish if you can.]

Alex smiles. Jayden's words were a challenge to him. When the spider gets close enough, it shoots sticky webs. Aided by the power of Dragon Blood, Alex not only dodged, he managed to stand next to the spider. With a single laser shot, the spider was pushed far away and shattered into pieces. A thick yellow liquid gushed out, fouling around. Alex was lucky the liquid just hit his shoes.

“Ew. It's disgusting.”

[You can say that again.]

Alex's turn to laugh. He just realized that there was a splash that was hit right on the drone camera. “Maybe you want to see it directly here.”

[No, thank you. My work is still a lot. I have to prepare your training tomorrow. I told Nadira that one spider is too easy for you.]
