It's a human hand, but not a human force. Alex's eyeballs glowed greenish. Empty look. Jayden can't do much. The air was quickly robbed. In the midst of his consciousness that began to disappear, Jayden could only hold Alex's shoulder while whispering. “It's okay. You are safe now.”
Alex nodded as if he had woken up from a nightmare. He pulls his hand, letting Jayden's body fall on the wheelchair. His breath was filled with fear. His heart is beating too fast. His ears caught the clattering of steps that were still far away. Alex waits. Wait until the ICPA additional troops arrive.
A green spray flashed in the whirring of the bullet.
Debris strewn.
Then, dark.
Alex nodded again. His heart was no longer beating fast, his breathing was calm. He woke up in a white room. The voices came charging in uninvited. None of him knew, but they were talking about him. They're talking about something called Sonic now united with him.
What other problems did he encounter at the moment?
Alex tried to move, but his entire body was unmoved. Not because he was tired, but because something was bothering him. Not like handcuffs. Alex feels it like a jacket in a mental institution. Elastic but effective.
His eyes were open in the darkness. Maybe his head was covered in a helmet or something. At least his head could still look. He was trying to follow the source of the voice. The firm voice of a woman, the voice of an old man, also the soft voice of a woman. There were some sentences that he could not clearly grasp. But, he was sure that they also mentioned his name.
Then the voice disappeared.
This time Alex woke up in a gray room. The ceiling above shows a pair of green stripes crossing each other. There are machine buzzing noises and short notifications. There's no conversation. There's a funny scent here, like indoor rust full of antiseptics. Alex tried to get up, but his body went numb.
Finding nothing he could do, he closed his eyes again.
“You're safe now.”
Alex gasps. The view of the room did not change. But he knew that time had passed. He found the room brighter. The white lights illuminating from the corner of the ceiling revealed their walls of blameless white. Alex found his body moving now.
The room is quite spacious. Even with the bed he was lying on, complicated medical equipment, computer tables and other unique mechanisms, the place still felt roomy. Alex saw a figure sleeping in the chair across from the computer desk. A curly-haired young man was a bit messy. His cheeks were no longer bruised, but his eyes were pouchy. It was like having stayed up for days without stopping. That's Jayden.
His memory stopped after his hand touched the tube filled with green liquid. He remembers stealing his father's data, finding hidden messages, arriving at the reservoir, and the attack. Stop there without continuing. Alex doesn't remember how he ended up in such a strange room.
Alex saw himself. He was wearing an all-white shirt like a patient in the hospital complete with a bracelet. However, it was not a paper bracelet. But metal bracelets with flashing lights. It reminds Alex of an explosive indicator or a sign mounted on a prisoner. What the hell's going on?
Before getting out of bed, he removed the breathing apparatus, the heart detection device, as well as the infusion tube attached to his hand. He feels fine. Not only that, he felt very healthy. Alex crossed the room, approached Jayden who was asleep. At first he hesitated whether to wake her up or not.
Jayden opened his eyes first. When their gazes met, Jayden shouted. “Wow, wow, wow! You still alive?”
Alex frowning.
Not yet able to answer, Jayden exclaimed again. “You are alive! The experiment worked! You're still alive!” Jayden's eyes watched Alex from head to toe. I can't believe Alex is in front of him.
Hearing some of the words ‘live’ mentioned, Alex started to get anxious. “What happened?”
“You don't remember anything, Killer Bee?”
“Of course, I thought it was better.”
“What?” Alex was about to ask, but his body suddenly felt light. Before his body fell, Jayden caught his shoulder.
“Sit down first, I'll explain!” Jayden sat Alex in his chair while he stood up. Jayden took a bottle of water from a small refrigerator at the end of the room. “Drink, you must be thirsty.”
Alex did not refuse. Her lips and throat were dry. His hand was about to catch the bottle of water that Jayden threw, but when his hand managed to reach the bottle, it exploded in his hand. Exploded in the real sense. The water splashed, soaking himself and the computer table beside him.
Alex's heart was racing. His eyes were in disbelief. He recognized this symptom as fear. “What just happened?”
“I didn't think it could happen. Sorry.” Jayden moved closer to Alex who dared not move from the chair. He held out another new water bottle that he had opened earlier. “Now relax.”
“Is this going to explode again?” Alex looks back at the bottle to Jayden.
“Neg. We're not describing explosive water or anything like that. This is ordinary mineral water. Buy at supermarket. Refrigerated in refrigerator.” Jayden threw a faint smile. “Tenace. You are safe here.”
Alex remembered those words. He remembered another memory piece. He remembered the electric strike and the blue white luster. He remembered how to strangle Jayden. He also remembered the consecutive shots directed at him. He clearly remembered how he had knocked down the incoming troops although not in detail.
Now, he's shivering. “A-A-What happened to me?”
“I'll explain to you.” Jayden is still pouring water. “Take a deep breath. I know this won't be easy to explain to a teenager like you. But, trust me, once you get used to it, you will love your new status.”
“Status?” Alex finally reached out to receive the water bottle.
Jayden waiting. His eyes watched as Alex drank and straightened out. At least, this time the bottle did not explode in his hand. Jayden took a towel from the closet at the side of the room and threw it at Alex. There was no explosion from the action this time. As Alex dries her hair and clothes, Jayden drags the chair to sit across from her.
“Let's start by getting acquainted. I'm Jayden. You can call me J. I'm your responsible and personal operator in the field. Take it easy, I'll do my job better than Mrs. Bellsey.”
“You know Mrs. Bellsey?”
“Neg. I just saw the data a while ago. A pretty firm and fierce woman. Nothing compared to Nadira.” Feeling a sense of detachment, Jayden returned to the main topic. “Your name is Alexander Hill, right?”
“Yes. You also checked my data?”
“We are now both former Hackers, Killer Bee.”
“We're in jail?”
“There are no prisons with technology like this. I mean, not yet.” Jayden laughed, remembering his conversation with Tiger. “This place is the new X-06 floor built by ICPA specially for you.”
“Forku? Why?”
“Because now you are officially a super agent coded Zetta Sonic.”
