The Zetta Sonic

The Zetta Sonic
Larger One

Alex gnashing. There was a blinding light coming from behind him. The light cannot be compared to the vision. The light made its silhouette on the dinosaur monster. There is a reflection of Alex's body shadow in a uniform also on the round eyes of the monster. It's not the Zetta Sonic that works. Something else. The other division. Support from ICPA.

There's a change in pressure coming from behind Alex. Along with that, water bubbles are created. No need to wait a long time, a row of missiles darting in the water. It is smaller than a yellow-tipped missile. This missile is white with a green muzzle. The ICPA's circle and star symbols are there.

Alex tried to count how many missiles had fired but failed. They came so fast. One of them had even hit the shoulder part of the monster. Alex didn't realize there was a missile heading there before. After the first explosion, there were further explosions. They make waves.

Alex closed his eyes, avoiding any sights he might not forget. Under such conditions, he felt numb. The combat uniform reduced all the impact on his body. Waves, throws, sounds, the heat, everything.

When his eyes opened, there was only darkness. Something too thick was penetrated by submarine spotlights. It took a while for him to realize. He was in the middle of a foul smelling liquid. The monster swam around. It is not impossible that any part of the money has melted and mixed in the water. He threw all those thoughts away. He was already tortured enough.

Something moved behind him. A brace. The clamp came to him. Apparently the first clamp had come off due to the great shock earlier. Instead of letting himself be clamped again, Alex reached out. He still has a little energy. His hands reached for the mechanism.

Another light greeted him. Warm light. He blinked, seeing the submarine door open. Not a familiar door. It was definitely not the exit either. Different door. Bigger and wider door.

Alex moves through the door. When the road ahead of him was deadlocked, Alex knew it was time to lift himself up. His head was poking out from the surface of the water. Fresh air flows through the cracks of the helmet. Somehow, the uniform can always adjust to the conditions around it.

There, he finds neither Emil nor Jayden. There were only a few people in black uniforms, ICPA field uniforms. Some carried rifles, but were not ready to fire. A few more are preparing some kind of wheeled stretcher. It's a different submarine.

Alex is turning his head. Before he could ask anything, he saw a figure wearing cloth pants and a violet shirt complete with a doctor's white coat. Dr. Vanessa ran to him. As if welcoming, Alex swam to the edge. Next, he was in the doctor's arms.

It looks like Alex fell asleep afterwards. When he opened his eyes again, Alex was already inside the medical room. Not a room like the Special Force. This room is more pungent by the antiseptic smell. The equipment is complete and many. They crammed into every corner of the space, making it feel cramped and crammed.

He was lying on a soft and hot bed. It felt so comfortable and comforting that he remembered exactly what he was supposed to do.

“We have to check into.” His voice came out hoarse, somewhat disjointed.

Before Alex could move, the doctor's soft hand pressed his shoulder into the bed. “Quiet, Alex. We'll be there, as soon as you get better.”

“I...” Alex stops talking. He realized two things. One, doctor Vanessa has returned from the Golden Brain Conference much sooner than expected. Two, there was a hose stuck to the back of his hand, draining the blue liquid that seemed to be medicine. In addition, he was still wearing his uniform. Complete. Here's the black helmet.

Doctor Vanessa is getting closer. He whispered right into Alex's ear. “It's only five minutes. Believe this. After that, you will be able to move freely again.”

“What's..”

“Not that means you won't need to go to the generator room, but at least this will give you a little extra power to check into the facility. Trust me.”

“He will be ready for transfer,” said doctor Vanessa full of composure.

“I can see that, doc. I'll have my men prepare the tunnel.” The man's voice was calm and much lighter than Alex had expected. “We will wait outside while you are logged in.”

“That sounds calming. Thank you.. Ehm..”

“Fergus.” The man reached out, making a smile that was too beautiful to be on that sinister face.

“Fergus. Right.” Doctor Vanessa shook that hand.

“Don't worry, doc. You're not the first person to ask me my name anymore. Not a name that is hard to remember. Only, the change was too fast. No one thought. I get it.”

Alex refrained from commenting.

Luckily, the man came to Alex. “I Fergus,” said without mentioning any last names or other frills. “I hope we can cooperate well, Zetta Sonic. I heard your glorious lunge. I'm ready to give backups whenever needed. Just say it.”

Now Alex is cringing. Fortunately, he could always find sweet words to say. “Happy to have a new friend, Fergus.” Alex spoke while lowering his tone, hoping to disguise his original voice. He didn't want to sound like a fifteen-year-old boy.

Vanessa smiled as she shook her head.

Fergus is wasting no time. He ramps up, bounces, and goes to prepare whatever tunnel Alex doesn't understand. After confirming that Fergus is gone, Vanessa replaces Alex with the information she needs to know.

“So, Fergus is the new head of ICPA in our city. You know, the long-suspended ICPA chief failed to prevent Jayden's abduction.” Vanessa reviews a thin smile. “You see? Nadira cares about Jayden. He wants Jayden back. Nadira even gave me permission to go home sooner. Then, I came straight here with reinforcements. We came on time. I'm so glad to see you guys are okay.”

“We all want Jayden back.” Alex took a deep breath and changed the topic. “I don't like him.”

“Who? Fergus's? Wh why? She's a good agent.”

“I think he's interested in you.”

Vanessa shook her head, snorting amusedly. He went to the mechanism on the right side and fiddled with something there that stopped the flow of blue liquid. “Good, that should be enough. Now, it's time to check out what's in that facility.
