Jayden had trouble smelling his blood. His nose was in the snow. He was only able to roll over in order to breathe more freely. A bear stood in front of him. His blood was seen clinging to the bear's claws. Jayden only wished that his left arm was still stuck to his shoulder because he couldn't see it. His gaze was fixed on the carnivorous animal.
DOR'S!
Jayden heard gunshots. He saw how the animal's blood was splashed from a gunshot wound to the shoulder. Instead of feeling pain, the bear groaned furiously. The claw came back to him.
“Jayden!”
Jayden heard his name called by a voice he shouldn't have heard. The sound made him turn away from the bear. “Alex?”
The black figure of the Zetta Sonic darted rapidly through the air. His hand pushed the bear away from Jayden. That power carried him up to several meters into the forest before finally throwing him on the ground.
The bear roared loudly again while trying to get up.
Alex was floating in the air. His hand was already holding the sword in hand. He's ready to take out the bear. Of course the bear had no idea who he was dealing with. The animal is advancing. His claws swung rapidly. However, Alex is faster as well. He drew his sword quickly.
There was not the slightest intention in his heart to kill the bear. Alex just wants the bear to stay away from Jayden instead of returning it to the creator. Instead of injuring the bear, Alex's sword bounced away.
The bear came back, about to attack. Alex lowered. He knew clearly that his uniform would protect him from the bear's claws. Alex dodged and avoided. On the next occasion, he punched the belly of the carnivorous animal. The bear was only made more angry and more angry.
The bear's instinct is to prey. His sharp claws hit Alex's body, making him fall to the ground. The bear pressed Alex's body with one hand while the other tried to tear the uniform apart. Alex is not silent. He caught the hand pressing down on him. Aided by Dragon Blood, Alex slams the large animal to the ground.
Alex hastily kept his distance. He's flying low. His hand stretched out downward, taking his sword from the ground. He turned around, faced the beast again. “Go!” exclaim Alex.
The bear roared loudly. His voice made Alex shudder in horror. Then, the voice stopped suddenly after the sound of gunfire. The animal made another slow moan before falling to the ground. Far behind the bear, Alex could see Tiger still in the aiming position.
While lowering the rifle, Tiger snorted amusedly. “We don't negotiate with criminals, Sonic, let alone with a bear that big.”
Alex landed himself. He kept his wings and sword. His hands are still trembling. Alex repeatedly faces gunshots, bad guys, explosions, and killer robots. This was the first time he had encountered a beast. Its size, its growl, its attack, its pure power made it tremble. Something that is both fascinating and frightening at the same time.
Then, he rushed back at his comrades. Jayden sat on the snowy ground. His jacket and shirt were cut off at the shoulder. Doctor Vanessa examined the wound. There were three long incisions, fortunately not so deep. Alex was stunned when he saw that there were some other scars there. He doesn't expect a worker behind the scenes like Jayden to keep physical injuries, either.
Jayden looked at Alex. “I look messy, eh?”
“Ya.” Alex could see how the young man's hair was messy, clinging to his forehead. Not to mention the torn clothes, also the presence of these wounds. “It looks sick.”
“I think I should give him a few stitches,” said doctor Vanessa while reopening her medicine box.
Kara, the female pilot, was near them as well. He stared at the Zetta Sonic with wide eyes. “I am a big fan of yours. It's an honor for me to be saved by Zetta Sonic! I'm really flattered!”
“Sorry? I don't even know who you are.” Alex frowned, convinced that the girl hadn't seen him. “I'm not here for you. I'm here for my team.” Alex threw a casually closed answer by folding both of his hands in front of his chest.
Kara's eyes narrowed immediately. His mouth formed an arch. “Forget my last words.” Kara turned to Emil and walked away. “Hey, you! Help me move those things. They can't walk alone!”
Jayden looked at Alex. “Very good, Sonic. You made your first enemy in the ICPA. He pilot-” Jayden tiptoed, spontaneously staring at his wound. “Aw!”
Jayden regretted seeing how the needle started to puncture his skin. He turned his eyes back on Alex. “What are you doing here? How did you get here? Did you open your Christmas gift sooner?”
“It looks like so.”
“You should be on the naughty list!”
“Really? This brat just saved you from being a bear dinner. Even if I'm sure, the bear won't like your race.”
Tiger cleared his throat. “And this big guy just saved you from becoming a toy. You should've seen how Alex tried to talk to the bear. Maybe talking to animals could be a new feature Zetta Sonic.”
Jayden giggled at that while Alex threw away his gaze. “Hei,” Jayden called him again. “I thought you were preparing a Christmas party or something?”
“The action is off.”
“Why?”
“Many reasons.” Alex was lazy to tell it, so he changed the topic. “By the way, the plane was amazing! But, I'm sure the extra padding in the pilot's seat will be of great help.”
“Good, let me think about it later. My advice to you, be prepared to listen to Nadira's long nagging. I'm sure you haven't received permission to fly that plane.”
Tiger slid his rifle back. “I'll help Emil.”
“Need help?” sahut Alex's. It's just a stale base. He hopes the answer is no. Because it was so eloquent to lie, Alex felt his offer was sincere, but it was not.
Tiger turned away for a while just to talk, “Ya. Protect us from the bears. Don't talk to them. That won't work.”
At least Tiger did not ask for his help to move the boxes of supplies. After the wound was treated, Jayden and Alex sat next to each other on a large rock. They circulate the view, watching for the arrival of bears or other threats.
“This place has made me freeze.” A thin white breath formed as he spoke. Doctor Vanessa has kindly taken a blanket for her from the plane. Fortunately, there are still many survivors from the accident. Jayden put the blanket on his body. Help enough.
“That's the reason why I won't turn off my uniform here,” Alex said.
“Agree. There are people outside the Special Force as well. The noisy girl can fuss when she sees a boy like you behind a combat uniform.” Jayden smiled seeing Kara back and forth with the supply box, then she turned to her interlocutor. “Thank you.”
“Other times, maybe you want to think twice before leaving me alone.”
“I just thought you needed a vacation.”
“Ya, indeed.”
Then, the awkward moment came.
