Alex, the first time, fell asleep in class. Make no mistake, he often takes lunchtime to sleep, but not in the middle of lesson hours. Preston instilled the right motivation in his employer. Alex sees lessons as a form of getting information and brainstorming.
Willy woke her up when the break came. “You're lucky you don't snore. Ms. Wilson doesn't like anyone sleeping when she teaches.”
“What time is it now?” Alex stretches his body while yawning.
“Hour lunch. You missed two hours of lessons in a row.”
“I deserve to be hungry. Come, eat.”
Willy laughs. Together with Alex, the two descend to the first floor where the dining room is located. The room had many groups of table chairs. A round table with four chairs on each side. The number is never directly proportional to the number of students. There are always more places for those who want to eat alone.
Alex would usually have lunch with Willy and Ivan and Ben from the next class. There is no specific reason. They were just friends since childhood from the same elementary school. The lunch menu was not Alex's favorite. Something involving fish never impressed him.
The four boys enjoyed their casual chat. No lessons were discussed at lunchtime, they agreed. They usually talk about the latest game, the latest movie, the ball game, or the school event. The four are looking forward to the camping event that will be held soon.
It's not a big event. They'll go two days and one night at the camp. Enjoying nature, looking for clean water, fishing for dinner, setting up a tent, and of course no bathroom let alone hot water. Not a comfort for them, even so the four feel challenged.
Alex is only worried about one thing. It's not an easy place to get a signal. Without Dragon Blood, he would not have to worry about anything. With Dragon Blood, Alex chooses to have access to the secret organization. And, in retrospect, he hasn't said this to Nadira.
ICPA maintains the confidentiality of its agents as much as possible. This is very important for their organization and the agent himself. ICPA basically serves to prevent the occurrence of crime, not to overcome the crime that has occurred. Even on the field, different things happen.
Alex believes Nadira will not bother him during the camp. He was worried about something else. The Dragon Blood within him had been acting like an obedient child. When he was in action at the factory yesterday, his energy was only reduced by one bar out of five. Unfortunately, it is not a guarantee that the liquid will not act.
After returning from yesterday's mission, professor Otto decided not to recharge Dragon Blood. He just asked Alex to eat nutritious food and rest. After a short nap and breakfast, the boy did find his energy indicators back intact. The problem is, his own body's energy is not. That must be the reason why he ended up falling asleep in class today.
Alex decides to call Nadira soon after school. He needs to discuss this with the leader. Maybe professor Otto had something for him to prevent unwanted things from happening. In fact, it might be something much better than he expected.
Jason was pretty cool yesterday. The tiny drone managed to steal the data, give a shot, see what he did not see, although it eventually crashed at the last moment. If only, he could have brought it in this camping, it would have been even cooler. Then, Alex remembered Jayden. He could imagine Jayden repairing the drone as he enjoyed his lunch.
“Hey, you know that we will get a special instructor?” Ivan, the tall one threw a question at the two children who were different classes from him. Her curly hair was exactly like corn and her red spots on her nose seemed to match. “So the homeroom introduced the camp instructor who will be our companion.”
Willy exchanged looks with Alex.
“I just heard a rumor that the school invited real singers to fill out the show on the night of the bonfire. But, special instructor? I haven't heard about it,” Willy said. “What will he do? Watching us all the way through camping?”
“Oh, better than that.” Ben laughs. Contrast that with Willy. Ben is as tall as Alex but with a body almost twice as wide as Ivan. Perfectly fit as the only son of an international chocolate factory. “He will teach us everything before camping. Including hunting, fishing, and cooking.”
Alex jumped to the conclusion. “The bottom line, he will stuff us with boring theories before the camping event arrives?”
“Fifty pages bedtime,” says Ben.
“Don't remind me again about that. This instructor is different.”
“She herself is like a challenge,” Ben added.
“Slightly arrogant, if I may say.” Ivan grunts amusedly. “He said he had experience fighting bears. I doubt the authenticity of the story.”
“Slightly scary, if I may add. Remember the story about the poisonous mushrooms?”
“Do not touch green objects other than leaves, you mean?”
“It too. I was a little scared of his voice and his gaze.”
Ivan and Ben added comments to each other regarding their new instructor. Alex and Willy could only shut up. At least they get a general idea of the instructor. A person who is quite arrogant, perhaps a braggart, with a vast knowledge of the wild.
“I'm sure he'll come after this.” Alex spoke when they got back to class. “Jam next lesson language. I heard, our language teacher is preparing a representative for the speech contest next month.”
“Hey, you mean this instructor will snatch the blank hours?”
“That's what I'm afraid of. Though I still want to sleep.” Alex is back yawning. He sat down on the chair and pulled his backpack. The backpack felt much more comfortable than nothing. Just closing his eyes, he felt Willy patting his shoulder.
“Wake, Al! Wake up!”
“Hah? What?” Alex hasn't really slept yet.
“She's here,” Willy said half a whisper. “Si instructor. He looks more like a nightclub bodyguard or former soldier than an instructor. Where does school know this guy?”
“Don't ask me!” alex replied while looking at the classroom door.
Willy himself stopped talking as the instructor passed him to the front of the class. No one actually dared to speak at that moment. Then, Willy added again, stay in the whisper, “At least with that body, I still believe that he can fight the bear. Understand I mean? He's almost as big as the bear itself.”
“Yes. He is indeed big.”
“She is more suitable to be a wrestler.”
“Or secret agent.” Alex let his opinion slide smoothly from his lips without a second thought when he saw Tiger coming in a wraparound after a tan, a wide hat, and a red sash.
