The Zetta Sonic

The Zetta Sonic
New Job

Alex found Emil in the hallway. There were several other lawyers who also passed by, they had exchanged glances with him without saying anything. Sure oes. An agent as young as himself is definitely not common. Emil himself did not look surprised when he saw Alex wandering there. The young man paused for a moment hoping Alex would say something. However, as he did not say anything, Emil turned at the crossroads of the front hall. He knew Alex would follow him.

“Bored in room?” Emil opened the conversation as a long deserted passageway stretched across his gap. “I don't blame you.”

“The mission you are working on. Rando, right?” Alex made his guess. He talked about his mission a while ago. He remembered his encounter with Rando who was carrying a box filled with liquid.

Emil nodded once.

“Can't be told to others?” Alex asked, commenting on Emil's brief response. He knows that a lot of things are kept secret at the ICPA. For example, the identity of agents. It is not surprising that the development of cases is kept secret to agents who are not on duty.

“Not really. It's just, Nadira said it wasn't your mission. No more. But, this is funny. I often break the rules. I don't think it's a problem if you know. You who managed to get the liquid first time.” Emil did not smile when he said that.

“Beldevelopment is bad?”

“Slightly worse than originally thought.”

“There is a ransom demand?”

Emil fell silent again, choosing the right words. “Actually. The ransom sounds better. We don't know.”

“What do you mean?”

“The waters are more dangerous than we thought. That liquid, you name it, could turn an entire city into a monster. Exactly, many people will die. Wrong measure, a lot of people will be zombies. Either way, it'll turn the whole city into a mess. Everyone will scramble to secure themselves.”

“So, the liquid is poison?”

“Sort of bacteria.” Emil. He took out a tablet PC that had only been clasped. “I sent the data to Zet-Arm. “You think you're curious.”

Alex does not deny. He was curious. Very curious. More than that, he wanted to know what was going on. And, again, more than that, he wanted to do something. The other side in him wants to act Zetta Sonic. He knew his choices were increasing. He likes parties. He also loves to fight and be the savior of the city. If only, there were no injuries.

Alex spontaneously shook his head, casting off his doubts. Zet-Arm is now in his right hand. With a little help from the fingers on the left hand that is still debated, Alex managed to get into the data system.

Transparent screens appeared floating in the air. They showed data from the liquid Rando was carrying. The foreign component makes Alex's eyes poignant just by reading it. He doesn't understand what that means. One thing he knew, the liquid must have been a shitty surprise to the ICPA.

In addition, the names of the agents in charge of handling the case were also listed. The number is not small. They involve several field agents, the following operators, expert doctors, also researchers. Professor Otto's name is there. The color is gray, in contrast to other names that are white. Alex didn't want to ask why. He already knows.

Another interesting thing there is the presence of several empty columns. They are scattered in several places, beside or under the name of the agent on duty. There is still one empty column on the field agent section.

“What is this? Column for additional agent?”

Beyond Alex's expectations, Emil chuckles. “True. Want to register?”

“Sure,” says Alex quickly.

Emil must not have expected the spontaneous answer of the child next to him. He was silent with his mouth open. His reaction made Alex fall silent. The two stopped in their respective positions without speaking until Alex was not at home.

“What? You won't withdraw your offer, ‘kan?”

Emil shakes. “Even if I don't pull it, I think it's impossible. I mean, you know ‘ right? You're not really-I mean, you're not an agent-No, are you. I mean, your case is special.”

It's the first time Alex has seen Emil seem to be hesitant about his own answer. Alex disappointed. He nodded as he stepped forward. Emil followed behind her, but no longer dared to walk side by side. He left a distance between them.

“Hei.” Emil opened the conversation again. “Actually. I'm curious. Why do you want to complete this mission? I don't think you're interested in this job. Moreover, at this time Jayden..” Emil let his sentence hang.

“Actually there is one way.” Emil stopped while fiddling with the tablet PC. “Not a field agent. If you want.”

Alex stopped, turned to him. “Don't tell me you still need an additional operator.”

“Actually, assistant. I need operator assistant.”

“You need assistant?” reset Alex. “For what?”

“Actually, no.”

Alex frowned after hearing Emil say different things now.

Emil added. “They gave me a chance. Empty slots. Who knows I need an assistant. Or, friend. You know, there's a lot to do. Not just guiding agents in the field.”

“Search for information? Matching data?”

“Ya, that sort of thing. There's a lot to be done. As soon as possible.”

Alex understands that Emil says different things for different reasons. “You have a chance to take an assistant but don't do it.”

“Sort of it.”

“Now you offer it to me.”

Emil shrugged his shoulders. “Entahlah. You're Killer Bee. You're trained. Maybe just a little adjustment. ICPA system is a little troublesome.”

“You said, I'm not really an ICPA.” agent

“They don't need to know who my assistant is. It's just a name. Formality.”

“You're like teasing a cat with a fish.”

“I don't understand. You're not interested?”

“You're kidding!? Of course I'm interested!” Alex could not help himself from smiling widely. Not only will he get a chance to see how ICPA works up close. He also got a chance to approach the ICPA's confidential data. “One more question. I can choose agent name at will, ‘kan?”

“By the way of name... You will call him what?”

“Who?” Alex nodded again.

“Not who. But, what. The robot. Robot bees.”

“What bee robot?”

Emil shows the tablet PC in his hand to Alex. The screen showed images from a surveillance camera where a drone was sitting sweetly next to a small object that was barely visible from a distance.

Alex clenched his lips, realizing what had happened. Emil manages to secure Jason and the drone is done with his work. A robot bee. Jayden imprints a secret feature on Jason. A blueprint of a robot bee.

“If Jayden made this up to make fun of me, it worked.” Instead of being elated, Alex clucked in annoyance. “The question, what for?”
