Midnight

Alex withdraws from Vanessa's doctor. The woman looked at him gently. He placed both his hands on Alex's wet face. Again, Vanessa's doctor told her.

“Everything will be fine. We're all gonna solve this problem together, Alex. You are not alone.”

Wiping his wet eyes, Alex nodded. Whether since when to cry in front of the doctor Vanessa is not at all scary for him. He didn't have to worry about looking weak. She trusted even more than her mother, even more herself. “Thank you, doc.”

As Vanessa's doctor comforts Alex, the screen on the room's computer flashes. A call in. No need to wait long, Jayden's face also appeared there. Thinking that Jayden would give him information and mission briefings, Jayden called him into the command room.

With Vanessa's doctor, Alex rushes there.

In that command room, as usual, there were already Jayden and Emil facing their respective computers. At the meeting table, there was Tiger and Caitlin. The two sat far away from each other. On the screen in front of the large meeting table was Nadira's face. Without needing to be told in advance, Alex was already able to catch him. That's bad news.

“You found the bomb?” ask Alex.

Nadira sighed softly. [Not at all.]

“You didn't find one?” Alex repeated the question.

[None of them.] The answer to Nadira is still the same.

Seeing that the woman was lazy to explain everything, Jayden took over. “Fergus has done the check. Nothing is suspicious. All net.”

“Even city hall?” Alex guess.

“Even city hall.” Jayden then pulled himself out of the computer. Folding his hands, he glanced down in order to see the meeting table more clearly. He looked straight at Caitlin. “All public places have been checked. If people leave their homes aside, the city is safe. Unless, of course, the Baron is after the home of the students of Wood Peak.”

“You treat Baron like a villain!” Caitlin finally spoke. “He is innocent. All are the deeds of his twin brother.”

“Dan,” sahut Tiger, “do you trust him? You've obviously been blinded in love.”

“No! You are blinded by hatred. You even forbid me from leaving this place. You think I'm a criminal too?”

“Indeed no one can enter and exit Special Force headquarters that easily. You know the rules.”

“I used to be part of you.”

“Tulu.” Tiger emphasized the word. “We used to trust you. Previously.”

Nadira shook his head. The debate seemed to have been going on for quite some time until it bored him. Emil casually took the headset and put it on. Jayden just clucked in annoyance. Doctor Vanessa took the initiative to break up. Alex ignores Tiger and Caitlin's argument.

In the midst of the debate, he approached Jayden to speak more clearly. “This city is still in its hostage?”

“Kot more so. As long as we can't check every building in the city, who can make sure that the city is safe? In fact, even if Fergus said he had checked out a public place, it only covered a large public place. We have not been able to reach all public places in the suburbs.”

“What should we do now? We can't wait until midnight,” said Alex. “If the bomb really explodes, casualties will fall again. We have to do something.”

“Nadira prefers simple options.”

“Wait until midnight?” Alex breathed in disbelief.

“We don't know if he's serious or not. You remember that building that exploded when you were trying to chase it? The ICPA has checked it. The building itself belonged to the Baron. Empty churning. There was almost no loss for the Baron. The place turned out to even violate the layout of the city and had received threats to be dismantled. You know what this means?”

“That's just a bluff?” Alex rolled his eyeballs. “Dia Baron. The one who dared blow up my school. He planted a bomb in one place. Now maybe he's laughing at us for failing to find the bomb. We can't let it go, J. Is there nothing we can do?”

“Pending. At least for the time being. Fergus is still continuing his search.”

Alex glances at the clock in Zet-Arm. The rest is not until fifteen minutes to twelve o'clock. “As long as Fergus searches, it could have exploded somewhere.”

“We can get more help.”

Jayden shakes. “Do not. Alex.”

Alex obviously ignored Jayden's words. “Nadira, how seriously do you want to find those bombs?” alex asked as he walked forward toward the screen.

“What do you want, Alex?” sahut Nadira's.

“Release Cody. He can help us.”

Nadira sighed in disbelief at what he heard. [Doing.]

Alex could not believe what he had heard from Nadira. Was it true that the leader had just given him permission to release Cody. Alex blinked without moving in his position.

Nadira scowled his temple and said again. [Do not make me repeat my words again. I can't believe what decision I've made. So, just let her go before I change my mind.]

Tiger was clearly not interested in arguing. He also hurried to step. “I'll pick him up here.”

[Alex will come with you.] Nadira quickly. [Cody will not cooperate with ICPA. But, he will be working with Alex who is helping him get out of there. Tiger, you're in charge of watching them. You know what to do when they do.]

“Operation Barb Wire?” sahut Tiger's.

Jayden grunted amusedly for it. “Of course not. You wait until I come to help you.”

“If you come, you will bring more problems.”

Caitlin also responded. “If no bomb goes off in the middle of the night, that means it's just a bluff. Baron, Roban, or whoever you suspect it means innocence.”

“Basically,” says Emil ogre, “makes such a threat. Including crime. He's freaking out the ICPA. Community ratify.”

Caitlin spontaneously glared.

“What if the bomb really explodes? Does Zetta Sonic have to be there to check?” ask Alex.

[Of course. Your current combat uniform is the best. At least that uniform proves that it keeps you whole at school.]

“What do you think, Baron will appear?”

[Could be, could not. Why are you asking?]

“I think I have a brilliant idea!”

[Why do I have a hunch that I won't like this?]

“Not this time.” Alex shakes. Then, he turned instead to Caitlin who was sitting away from him with a sullen face. “I think Caitlin won't like.”

“Why me?” reply cynical Caitlin. Even so, he still got up from his seat and walked up to Alex.

“Because, maybe, you will meet Baron.” Alex folded his hands in front of his chest and instead smiled. “Do you think you're ready for that?”

“I know Baron very well.”

“Good then. This will greatly surprise him.”
