The Zetta Sonic

The Zetta Sonic
Upside Down

Alex depends.

His feet were tied to an iron bracelet with long electric rope. Dare to touch the bracelet or rope, an electric shock will strike. He had already tried it when he first failed to infiltrate. Besides hanging, Alex is also trapped. He was inside a large cube-shaped cage with thick glass walls. Boxing with his bare hands will bruise his hands. Ordinary bullets will bounce. Not a wise choice. He tried it too. The difference was, he was wearing a combat uniform back then. Currently, he only wears a simple black t-shirt under a dark blue jacket.

Emil's coming. Her eyes swept over Alex once. Without saying much, he swept a finger at the tablet PC he was carrying. The straps and bracelets on Alex's legs came off. Almost simultaneously, the cage was open. Each side is folded like an origami, re-attached to the ceiling. In this situation, they are perfectly hidden.

Alex landed on both feet. He has been practicing his balance. It prevented him from getting a head injury. If Tiger calls it a balance exercise, Jayden calls it a way to fall gracefully. Alex ignored both. Want anything, does not make him able to smile at his failure. Again.

This is the time that both failed to infiltrate. He could imagine Jayden's grin. At least, it was also a sign that their headquarters was safe. Much safer than when Alex first infiltrated.

“Where is Jayden?” Alex asked while confirming his shirt.

“In the training room.”

“Together Tiger? I wonder why he was able to defend against Tiger. He doesn't need to practice until it's like that.” Alex grunts amusedly. “Better he supervises the defense system here. Being able to frame me doesn't mean this place is safe from intruders.”

“I agree.”

The two walked down the boring hallway towards the elevator. It's the only way to move floors in their base. Actually, there are still emergency stairs that are always locked and, of course, a vent. Alex wouldn't even bother trying to get in through there. Special Force isn't just locked, there's a laser trap there. Smart way at once cruel.

When passing through the hallway with one glass wall, Emil spontaneously turned his head again. Alex himself has been training so as not to be easily affected by the surrounding conditions. This includes turning as Emil had just done. If you can be honest, the area inside this one dam is indeed very interesting.

Not seen but there is. Eye in the dark. A perfect place to hide something.

“Back there?” Alex threw the question without even looking. He managed to hold himself back, trying not to be interested.

“No.”

“Not curious.”

“Of course. I'll wait for the professor's invitation.” Emil returned his gaze to the tablet PC. He replayed the video footage when Alex infiltrated. “How do you hack an elevator underground?

“Learning from the past.”

Seeing that Alex did not intend to give an explanation, Emil also changed the question. “How did you get here? You don't drive’, do you?” Emil did not see any cars parked on their runways connected on different sides of the city. Almost all of it ends at the bottom of the bridge.

“Neg. I ran.”

The answer made Emil frown. “From home?”

“Do you think?” Alex asked back.

Emil doesn't respond anymore. A lot of things can't be confirmed when talking to Alex. Generally a fifteen year old will not run from home to a place nearly twenty kilometers away at night. Given that Alex has power in him, it keeps him out of the general category. Besides, Alex is too good at lying.

“If only I could fly without rocket.” Alex was giggled by his own words. He entered the elevator that had just opened. Outside, Emil looked at her fixedly before coming inside.

Alex smiled as he threw his gaze to the ceiling. “Yes, it will be very fun.”

“I don't see why it's impossible.” Emil swiped the screen on a tablet PC, displaying indistinct charts. “But, I think it's much easier for you to spout fire first before flying.”

Alex rolled his eyeballs.

They arrived at the training room when Jayden managed to wake up. As usual, he held her back, nagging that there would be another bruise. Then, he walked out of the arena with Tiger.

The arena, which was two steps higher than the floor, slowly descended. The poles that had been the frame for the thick glass were folded into the inside along with their glass walls. All parts of this arena piled up into one and continued to descend until finally closed by the door. The arena vanished into a flat with the floor.

Jayden threw a smile at Alex. “Ten minutes.”

“I'll finish in five minutes.”

“Do not bet on something that is sure to lose.

“That's a challenge?” Alex makes a grin. “If I finish before ten minutes, you should buy me raisin bread.”

Jayden laughed at that. Looks like Alex is still curious about the bread and coffee from the tavern. Not harm. Jayden himself took Alex there. Unfortunately, they were forced to go home because they saw another ICPA agent. At that time, the Special Force had not been revealed to the surface. Jayden chose to take them all home to minimize the risk.

“Good,” replied Jayden. “If it is past ten minutes, you should take me to the university for the event .. I forgot what its name is.”

“What? Where do you know?”

Emil shook his head and walked out of the room with Tiger. They don't need to be in there to watch Alex train. You can watch it from anywhere on a tablet PC. Usually, Emil chooses to return to the command room because of his comfortable position. While Tiger will follow after taking a snack.

“Take me orange soda!” jayden told Emil before the young man actually walked out of the room. They all agreed that Alex's rehearsal sessions were as exciting as action movies. Jayden then returns to Alex. “I didn't accidentally see your conversation with a friend.”

Alex sighs. “Leta.”

Last time, Alex's father got an invitation to see the final student exhibition. It just so happened that Leta's father was also invited there to play music. Alex who initially wanted to take Jayden there also canceled the intention. He must admit that his decision was right. At the exhibition, Leta talked a lot with Alex.

For a moment, Alex wondered if the comfortable feeling could return.

Alex's father got another invitation from another university. The university will demonstrate the results of innovation from their robot department. Alex intends to take Jayden with or without Leta. He did contact Leta, asking if she would come. Apparently not.

“You should think of other dating places besides university,” seductive Jayden.

“Very good advice from other singles.”

Jayden had already stepped away before Alex protested because he was peeking at the text conversation. “By the way, I added some pistols and nets here. Good luck.”

Alex protests just as the door closes behind Jayden. “Wait! Whahuh? It's cheating!”
