The Zetta Sonic

The Zetta Sonic
Highway

Killer robots.

If it's a joke, then Jayden's joke isn't funny at all to Alex.

“This must be the first time you've heard of it. Killer robot.” Jayden glanced at the child beside him. Alex pursed his lips with a straight forward look. He looked annoyed and curious at the same time.

“Always first time for everything,” reply Alex fierce.

“You must learn hacking from me if you want to be more expert in uncovering secrets.”

“Dan, you need to learn martial arts from me.”

Jayden laughed at hearing that. “We can make another class time. Now, get your gear in the back. There is a small suitcase filled with weapons as well as a backpack containing your clothes and dinner.”

“Where is the party?”

“Resort by the beach. We'll get there in an hour if we don't get stuck in traffic. Unfortunately, traffic data already predicts.” density

Alex looked back. He found that there was only one backpack containing maid clothes there. Jayden must be joking about making her a teen model. “Is there anything else I need to know? Let me know all the details of this mission, J!”

“OK, okay. I'm glad you adjusted so quickly. Is that because you checked all the features in your bracelet until the early hours of the morning? I'm really envious of you. Zetta Sonic gives you more energy to stay up.”

“You know I accessed my bracelet until morning? So, now you will be watching for twenty-four hours? It sucks! Absolutely no fun!”

“Hey, relax first, junior agent! I also don't like to waste my time watching you. I'll stop once you get used to the ICPA and get Zetta Sonic right. Yes, even if all of its uses will still be recorded in history, anyway.” Jayden spurred their car faster when they got into the motorway. The car drove quietly amid the warm twilight light.

“You'll be guarding the parking again this time?”

Jayden shakes. “I'll drive from the three-star hotel next door. When you're done, get out the back door. Tiger will be waiting for you with this car. Do it as quickly as possible.”

“Of course it's everyone's wish.” Alex remembered the housework he had not done. “You brought a laptop?”

“There's behind. Why?”

“Good!” Alex snatched the laptop bag in the back. While holding onto the laptop, he took off his school uniform suit and tie. “Password?” Alex asks again when the screen shows a blank column.”

“It's ICPA laptop. You think we only use passwords to secure it?”

“Of course not. Voice recognition? Iris scanners? Finger print?”

“Why do you need a laptop?”

“School duty.”

Jayden frowned, confused and amused. “Hey, do your job later after this mission is complete. That guarantees you are not slow inside.”

“I have group assignments. We work it separately. I promise to hand over my share before eight.”

Hearing that, Jayden patted his forehead. “Good, I'm stuck with a kid who is too obedient to school rules and loyal to his friends but not to his parents and his country.”

“Password?” Alex asked again.

Sighing, Jayden put his pinky on the middle side near the keyboard. The screen changed too. Alex can get to the main page easily. He began to do his work in silence. Jayden occasionally glanced sharply, watching in case the boy did anything else.

“Stop looking at me! Focus on driving!” Alex pinta. “I'll be done in a minute.”

“Another ten minutes we'll be off the toll. That's your time limit.”

Exactly five minutes, Alex finished his job. He moved his data to the phone first then he sent an email to his friend.

Jayden shook his head, not believing what had just happened. The boy was using his work laptop, doing chores, returning his laptop to where it was, and was now opening a paper package containing his dinner. Jayden wondered why he himself could let Alex act so freely.

“There are other things I need to know?” Alex folded the paper bag without even touching the food. His hand grabbed another bag containing his equipment. “This is not a common weapon I use.”

“Of course. That's a laser gun.”

Jayden's words left Alex wide-eyed. “Sooth?”

“So I told you what you will meet there, ‘kan? You'll be facing a real killer robot. So, yeah, it's a real laser gun. Be careful with him, I'm serious.”

“The laser gun or the robot?”

“Two!”

“Tell me again about the robot.”

“These words are already on your bracelet, Alex.”

Alex nodded. “What this bracelet has no name other than Zetta Sonic bracelet? Aren't we gonna name this bracelet or what? What is a cool name to mention? “

“I don't need a cool name. But, you are free to name it what.”

“How about your powder box?”

“What box do you mean?” That question got Jayden wide-eyed. Then, he remembered the tiny tools similar to metal cell phones that he always used. “Hey, it's not a powder box! Watch your mouth, Killer Bee! I mean, Alex!”

“You have a name for him?”

“Neg. Why?”

“Good. We call this bracelet Zet-Arm and your powder box is Compact Pow-Pad.”

“What!? Oi! It's not a compact powder! Call it Flipad.”

Alex laughed while Jayden looked at him in annoyance. But, it didn't last long. As Alex begins reading the description of the killer robot on the Zet-Arm screen, Jayden smiles. It's the first time dealing with an agent as young as Alex. The ICPA has an age limit for each agent. Alex special case.

Their car finally left the toll. From there, the sun looks beautiful twilight with a warm orange glow. They are getting closer to the sea. Coconut trees are visible along with a row of tropical-style hotels and restaurants.

“They produce this robot here but nobody knows?” Alex was shocked when he read the news.

“They disguise it as a servant robot. Some manors began to replace their workers with robots. You must have heard of this. Or, maybe there are robot waiters in your house? They are cheaper, easy to manage, can not be sick, obedient and loyal. With various records, of course.”

“My supervisor, Mrs. Bellsey, and Preston, the butler, never agreed with the robot in the house. They have no feelings. It was a little dangerous, they thought. I concur. I can reprogram them to do my homework.”

“Later you will face a robot waiter who can use a kitchen knife to kill people. The only way to deactivate them is of course to damage them. Laser gun is the best weapon to do it.”

“I'm starting to understand the problem. How dangerous is this robot? Did they ever kill real?”

“So far, there is only one killer robot we know, KTA-00. The robot killed a police detective while stalking his home. You can guess the continuation, Alex?”

“The case vanished from the public. There are police officers involved or worse, the government.”
