Alex knew he was asleep. Even so, he felt it all. He could recognize the bright light above him as an operating room lamp. He also recognized the change in bright light into blue white stripes. He knew how they snatched away replenishing his strength. Lastly, he also recognized the green cross lines that lit up above him at this moment, the Zetta Sonic room.
As long as he slept, Alex faintly heard all the conversations around him. He recognizes the voice of professor Otto, the voice of Nadira, as well as the voice of the gentle doctor Vanessa. The doctor seemed to understand that he could hear his voice. Doctor Vanessa asked him to talk and tell stories. Alex can't remember what Vanessa's doctor told him, but it makes Alex feel calm. She also remembers how Vanessa's doctor sang to her. Her voice is so sweet.
Alex thought of Leta. For a moment, his mind wandered at the moments he spent with the girl. Leta's voice is more beautiful than that of Dr. Vanessa. Alex will do anything to hear it now. However, it was clearly nothing more than wishful thinking. After that wish passed, Alex realized that he did not want Leta there. Leta is not very suitable to be in the Zetta Sonic room. He belongs to a completely different world.
Like mother. To date, Alex has not been able to contact his mother. He didn't know his mother had come to the capital. He only knows one thing. Different from others. Alex didn't want his mother to be there when he was lying down like this. Her mother will not understand her world that has changed drastically.
Alex knew he wanted someone next to him but had no idea who was the right fit until he opened his eyes.
The light of the room felt friendly in his eyes. Alex nodded slowly. He took a deep breath, making sure he was still alive. Dead people don't need oxygen. He needs. His chest feels sore. It was nothing more than a sign that he had returned to reality.
“Hei. Alex.” Jayden moved closer to his bed.
Alex is getting used to that. The condition in which he woke up in a bed that could seal the capsule tub and strange tools stuck to his body. At least, Alex is grateful the capsule is not closing at this time. Being inside the glass-walled sealed capsule made it feel like being inside a coffin.
“How do you feel?” ask Jayden softly.
“Any.” Alex answered honestly. “How long was I unconscious?”
“Full daily. Is there something you want or need?” Jayden smiled before continuing. “Rover, maybe?”
Alex took a slow breath. His hand reached for the respirator in his nose. He let go of her with Jayden's help. They're both ready for doctor Vanessa's reception, but Alex feels much better without it. He didn't want to talk to Jayden much, he just wanted to be freer.
“I want to sandwich,” says Alex Iirih. He chuckles at his own answer. “I'm hungry.”
“If I remember, I still haven't asked you to eat raisin bread in Hummingbird. Cafe in the office. You remember?”
“I remember you pulled us away when there was another ICPA agent.” Alex paused for a moment, remembering the agents from another continent who were with them. “How are Gavin and Silvy? They okay?”
Jayden muttered for a moment. “Yes, thanks. They are fine, I mean, physically they are fine.”
Alex knew something was wrong. “He's not fired, ‘kan?”
“No, no. Nadira is political, as always. Gavin is thought to be helping our Special Force uncover human trafficking. Work's secure. I worry more about their relationship. I mean, not everyone can accept the partner of a secret agent. Many problems can occur.”
Alex doesn't need Jayden to explain it to her. He's very well understood. His parents are a perfect example of a secret agent problem. At least, now Alex knows that his father is so respected by his subordinates in Regis. He also knew that his mother was free to be close to another man, to go back and forth at the party, without needing to report to him.
“Hey, are you okay?” Jayden's got Alex in trouble. “If you are in pain, I can call doctor Vanessa. Or are you thinking of something else? About your mother, maybe?”
Jayden chuckled and continued. “Actually, while you sleep, there is an incoming message from your butler. Preston said your mom came home. He wants you to come home from the tree house, Mr. Tiger.”
“You said I was staying at a fake camp instructor tree house?” sahut Alex's.
“At least, it works.”
Alex frowned, not believing what he was hearing.
At that moment, both of them heard the door open. Gavin came in alone. He no longer wears an ICPA uniform. He only wore a white T-shirt under his jeans jacket and brown pants.
“Is he conscious?” Gavin asked as he approached.
“See by yourself.” Jayden stepped aside so Gavin could see more clearly.
“Hai, Alex! It's good to see you wake up like this. You made us all worry.” Gavin smiled, then turned to Jayden who snorted. “Do you think I'm overreacting? It was the first time I saw someone electrocuted high voltage.”
“Not your fault. Just relax.” Jayden laughed. Alex also nodded.
Gavin is back with Alex. “I just want to say goodbye before I go back to Regis. My plane will be back in a minute. I'd like to thank you too. You saved Silvy and my job. Honestly, I don't think everything can end this well.”
Alex doesn't know the definition of Gavin either. He himself can't say that it's all going well. “I hope Silvy will stay with you. Then, Filip? I didn't kill him, ‘kan?” Alex just wanted to make sure.
“Silvy stay with me. Philip will remain in prison for twenty years. At the very least, the killer robots would not develop quickly if he languished there. Everything thanks to you.”
“There's still a lot I have to learn. I think I can learn a lot from you. Tiger and Jayden agree that you're a good agent. I agree with them.”
“Wow... I'm flattered.” The first time, Gavin looked awkward. He chuckled as his gaze swept across the floor, his hands rubbing his neck. After that moment passed, Gavin looked into Alex's eyes fixedly. “You know? Actually, you could be a lot better than me. I've seen a lot of rookie agents. You are one of the promising ones. All the potential in your blood. Not Dragon Blood. From your lineage.”
Alex was silent for a moment before throwing his question. “Are you going to meet your leader after this?” The question came out of Alex with doubt. He even had time to swallow everything back after it was thrown. Not a question he wanted to ask.
“Of course. I had to report after I gave ICPA Sinde help without planning. Take it easy, your secret is safe with me. Like my secret is safe with you.” Gavin extended a hand. “We will meet again, Alexander Hill. Hopefully by then, there will be no more killer robots. They sucks.”
“Agree.” Alex shook that hand and smiled. “See you, Gavin River.”
Gavin also shakes hands with Jayden. After that, he turned to the door. Before he could get out of the room, Gavin took the time to turn to Alex again. “Hei, Alex. I really hope that someday, he will know that his son is amazing.”
“Ya, I also.”
