Alex ran as fast as he could. Jayden gawking. Even so, no screams were heard. He was still trying to hide himself while peeking, checking what the four people were doing. They started shooting. Jayden has to be honest that he himself was horrified to see it. That's when Alex's powers helped.
When the gaze in front of Alex flashed green, he knew he had successfully used the power of Dragon Blood. Soon, everything feels slow. His feet ran fast on the ground. He passed through the streets without feeling. His eyes could search for the loneliest route easily. Alex looked back. He could see a row of bullets slipping at him. No one ran to him. That's not good at all.
Jayden used the opportunity to open fire. One of them is about a man's foot. Seeing his partner get shot, they refocus on Jayden.
Alex realized that he was no longer the target. Feeling silly, Alex ran back.
From a distance, he could hear the sound of sirens buzzing. Maybe the police, maybe the ambulance, maybe also part of the ICPA. Emil has vanished. Alex assumes it's a good thing. The reinforcements have come.
Alex turned to his opponent. He might not have any combat uniforms, yet he could fight them with what was available. Tableware can be quite deadly if you know how to use it. Alex infiltrated one of the taverns. He took out a knife and other sharp items. While doing so, Alex finds himself shot back. He looked down, hiding behind the counter.
He lost sight of the opponent but that didn't mean he couldn't fight them. There's a lot Alex can learn when training in the training room. He preferred to call it a torture chamber because Jayden's invasion was more cruel than positive.
Alex pulls a large plate of stainless. He threw it in the air. As long as the object floated, he could see the shooter though imperfectly. Aided by the power of Dragon Blood, Alex can move quickly and aim. It only takes a little time to peek out from the side edge of the counter. Squinting his eyes, he threw all the knives he could hold.
All right, maybe Jayden's training is pretty effective.
Alex's knife-throw shot through the air. The speed is clearly under the bullet. But, at least more than enough to hit the opponent. The attack hit the opponent's thigh, making him forced to kneel. There would be no normal human being able to throw like Alex. No, without Dragon Blood.
Alex finds out he's dropped a shooter. There are two more. Both are after Jayden. Alex grunting. Of course they think Jayden is dangerous. Jayden's got a gun, he's not. Meaning, not yet. He grabbed a row of eating knives complete with his container and then poured out.
Alex looked up into the air when he saw the shots coming from the air. This shot was not aimed at him but at the other two people. Despite not seeing the shooter in the air, Alex knew it was Jason. The drone fired at the opponent with tiny bullets. Any shot that hits a bulletproof vest makes a push not a deadly wound.
In the open field, Alex is more free to move. He threw several knives at his opponent and rushed to hide behind the pot. Do not allow yourself to be attacked.
Alex looked back when he saw a splash in the sky. Her eyes widened. He saw the drone show its shape. Not only that, there were sparks all around him. The drone's single eye flashed rapidly. It didn't take long until the drone staggered and fell onto the stone floor.
Panicking, Alex peeked out from behind the pot. A shooter was already lying on the ground in a pool of blood. Another was wrestling with Jayden, somehow it could happen. The shooter didn't want to let go of his rifle and instead pressed the trigger. Blind shooting also occurs. The bullet hit the booth as well as the ceiling.
“Do not be silent!” exciting Jayden.
Alex gasps. He realized Jayden was talking to him. After gulping, he ran to Jayden's call. From behind, Alex prepared to give an attack. Seeing that, Jayden stomped the opponent, breaking away. When his opponent thought he had escaped, Alex gave him a spinning kick from behind, leaving him sprawled on the ground in a single strike.
There were at least a few seconds of silence between the two. Alex felt his heart beating. It was much firmer than all the battles he had ever fought behind a combat uniform. Jayden himself saw a different reaction. A reaction he also never saw on the screen while guiding Alex.
“What do you do?” Jayden exclaiming.
“You can do better than that!”
“Because I have...strength?” Alex avoids the words Dragon Blood or Zetta Sonic. “I didn't bring my uniform.”
“So, you want to say your strength is in uniform?”
“No. But, it's a secret matter.”
Jayden shook his head, saying what came to Alex's mind. “You're scared.”
“What? I-”
“You've been trained for this. And, you failed.”
“No. I trained for-” Alex stopped. He couldn't find the right words to answer Jayden. Himself silent. Shoulders sagging. He was upset not because he could not reply to Jayden but because he saw the look in the young man's eyes. Eyes of sadness mixed with disappointment.
Jayden threw his hand into the air. “You're not ready!”
Alex wails. Deep down, he knew Jayden's words were true. It made him stoop and silent. When Alex gained the courage to speak again, she found Jayden's eyes widened just before closing tightly. Grimacing, Jayden fell to the ground.
Behind Jayden, Alex sees the cause. One of the shooters was still holding a handgun. Just like when Alex attacked his partner from behind, he also attacked Jayden from behind.
“Jayden!” That's all Alex can get out of it. He doesn't know what to do. Help Jayden first or attack the shooter. He had never been in such a situation before.
The helpers came at the right time. Alex saw how some uniformed officers rushed in and shot the man. Behind them, Alex sees the medics complete with medical equipment and a stretcher. Alex approached his partner.
“Jayden!” Alex didn't even know what to say to Jayden, who was cowering in pain. “A-- A- What should I do?” Alex asked instead. His voice vibrates. His throat hurts from holding back tears.
“Prepared,” Jayden replied briefly.
Alex clearly doesn't understand what that means. Jayden hands the flipad to Alex. They don't talk anymore. The medics surrounded Jayden, mounted him on a stretcher, and took him immediately away from there. In an instant, silence struck. Alex's gaze swept around, seeing the many victims including Jason who fell. The officers have vanished out of nowhere. He was alone, sitting in the chaos.
At that time, Alex knew something was wrong. So wrong.
