The Zetta Sonic

The Zetta Sonic
Lights Out's

“Hai, Alex.” The girl, Caitlin, greeted gently without the slightest smile.

“What are you doing here?” reply Alex in the same tone as possible. He did not want to look upset especially after their debate. “Infiltrate as Rando did?”

Caitlin shrugged her shoulders. “Entahlah. I thought I was just doing what I was supposed to do. Defend what is right. Helping the weak. Proving the innocent.” His hand deliberately moved the rifle from right to left so Alex could see it clearly. “Please do not take offense,” he added imitating Tiger's remarks.

“He's one of the best snipers ICPA has,” Fergus said. “In my opinion, it's a coincidence that he could re-engage with us. He came at the right time and offered to help. I thought there was no harm.”

Alex grunting. “Too precise.”

“Hei. I just want to clear my suspicions against Baron and me. Then, I saw that you guys had a little problem. I don't think there's any harm in providing extra help,” added Caitlin. “Starting by capturing Rando then finding Jayden.”

“It's obviously two different things. Helping catch Rando doesn't make you good in my eyes.” Alex said it casually. “More easily if you directly tell me where you hid Jayden.”

“You still don't believe me? That's your business,” reply Caitlin fierce, “not me. I just need to point out that Baron wasn't involved like you were.”

Tiger frowned. He tried to lower the tension with more basic questions. “Hey, I don't like to cut your debate, but please answer this first. Rando is here? At the ICPA headquarters? Wh-wh-what for? Is he going to poison our water? It makes more sense that he put the liquid into the dam. He could destroy the Special Force headquarters and poison the city's water supply.”

The answer is actually clear. Tiger himself knows. He just let Alex answer. “She's looking for Zetta Sonic.”

Basically, Rando is still a hit man. Even if he repeatedly becomes a courier or does anything other than kill, Rando is still a murderer. He knows the value of the Zetta Sonic. To finish off the Zetta Sonic would not only give her a lot of money but also fame, even more than that. Pleasure.

“So, what's the plan?” ask Alex, turn to Fergus.

“Capture Rando alive.” Fergus spoke steadily. “I'm serious,” he said again before any follow-up questions. “We have to arrest Rando so that there is no murder he can commit. We also need it alive.”

Tiger was the first to oppose the idea. “Fergus, you also understand. Rando won't talk. He likes fighting. More than money. Capturing it will not give us any advantage.”

Fergus glanced at Alex. “Zetta Sonic can make him talk. Later. Now, we have to capture him alive before he blows up this base.”

Doctor Vanessa finally spoke. “Alex need help. Not just Caitlin.”

“I know. All weapons and traps have been activated. As soon as we saw that he was close, all the agents were on alert. When we talk, they must be facing it too. I just wish they could hold it.”

Alex caught the meaning of the speech. Restrain, not stop. They've never held Rando. Right now, he was the only one who had the possibility to win the fight. Tiger as well as doctor Vanessa are also right on this. He needs as much help as he can get. Rather than continue to squabble with his comrades, Alex swallowed all of his protests.

“Where is he?” ask Alex.

“It should still be on the ground floor,” Fergus replied.

Just after they finished talking, they found the lights in the room flashing. So is the equipment that is being used by Emil. The computer screen remained on but the sound from the processor beside it showed a change even if only for a moment.

“What is a dead light?” guess Tiger while circulating his gaze.

“This place is underground. The safest place. Own security system. Own electricity supplies.” Emil explained without being asked. “If the electricity in the main building dies, we should not be affected. Except..”

“There is a damage to the main system. We are not completely separated from the main building. If the system there is completely paralyzed, there is a possibility that this place will be affected,” Fergus replied. “As—”

“Large explosion.” Alex said softly.

“True.” Fergus turned his head, wanting to praise Alex's speed chimed in but unbinded his intentions.

Alex was glued to the screen behind Emil. Everyone in the room turned away. The screen shows a picture of the ICPA's main building burning. Explosions accompanied by a plume of black smoke have soared. If Emil hadn't turned off the sound from the surveillance camera speakers, they would have heard the explosion. The screen was filled with red warnings.

Rando must have something to do with it.

Doctor Vanessa flabbergasted. “How does he do it?”

“Bombs in car. Driverless. Remote control.” Emil turned back the surveillance footage.

They can see how an SUV is speeding, hitting the building's safety fence, continuing to drive until it hits the wall. The car exploded, destroying anything nearby, blinding the surveillance cameras with fire and smoke.

Fergus. “But, Rando has been here before. Who—”

“He is not alone.” Caitlin lifted her rifle back up and reached out to check for the bullets neatly stored in the pockets on her belt. “Rando used to move alone. The person who paid it may be another. They will do anything to get Zetta Sonic.”

“They're crazy,” whispered doctor Vanessa.

The lights blinked again. Everyone circulated his gaze to the ceiling including Fergus. The ICPA leader took his phone and cursed.

“There was another explosion at some point. They shut off the main power and network.” Fergus returned the phone. Instead, he took a gun. “Arming yourself. We don't know where they're coming from.”

Weapons are definitely not the doctor's field. Doctor Vanessa took a deep breath, exchanging glances with Emil. Tiger glanced at Alex. His eyes caught how Alex clenched his lips tightly.

“You scared?” tiger whispered to him.

“We just have to catch the general and the team will surrender,” Alex replied.

“You're not ready—”

“ Never will be. I wasn't even ready to be Zetta Sonic.” Alex smiled unconsciously. “One thing is for sure. I'm not ready to die today. I'll beat Rando whatever the risk is.”

Caitlin grunting. “Don't be a hero, yeah. Rando dangerous.”

Alex loves parties and is the center of attention. But, the hero was a little different to what he wanted. Hearing Caitlin's comments, Alex knew he had to give a fierce reply. “I don't need to be a hero. I just need a partner who works right. Do not be a burden and block the road. I can't intentionally attack you!”

“I should have said that. I could have misfired.”
