The Zetta Sonic

The Zetta Sonic
Small Pieces

Jayden doesn't say much in front of Camellia. The beauty of the woman charmed him. But, Jayden managed to hide well behind his feelings. He just wished that the woman didn't notice.

“It will be more interesting to talk about you,” Jayden replied.

“Do you realize how many girls are talking about you?”

Jayden shakes. “I'd rather they talk in front of me and have nothing to do with crime.” Jayden tried not to make much of an expression. He had heard such remarks before at the ICPA headquarters. “So, can we just go straight? What do you really want from me? Who's the guy behind Roban, who's Mr. This x?”

Camellia giggles. “You don't like stale bases, yes.”

“Depends on who my opponent talks to.”

“Mr. X, huh? Actually the name is quite suitable for him.”

“A rich man. His age was probably around forty or fifties. Pretty greedy, all by yourself, violent fans, love of money. Mysteriously. Very annoying.” Jayden made his guess. “Am I right?”

“You're very interesting, Jayden. Unfortunately, I don't have to answer whether it's right or wrong. Except, the annoying part, I have to say pretty agree.”

“See? We're starting to fit in. So, what do you guys want from me?”

“Honestly, I don't know.”

“Then get me out of here.”

The girl shrugged her shoulders. “I don't know what he wants from you. But, I have to do my job. Mr. This X sent me to talk to you. It's more about your abilities than Jason.”

Jayden frowning. Again, the girl repeated Jason's name. His sister should have nothing to do with it. Why would Camellia say that Jason could drag her into trouble again? Nadira knows his past. He doesn't have to worry about that. Or, could it be that Camellia was talking about another Jason?

“As I recall, you guys damaged my drone.” Jayden's talking about the drone he's making right now.

“Oh, the? Yes, yes.” Camellia looked surprised this time.

The response made Jayden realize that it was not the drone Camellia meant. But, the real Jason is unlikely to be involved in his abduction. She was kidnapped in front of Alex, the Zetta Sonic. Although inexplicable, Jayden felt he was starting to get a starting point to digest everything.

“Good, so as you thought. Mr. X does need your help,” continued Camellia. His base attitude vanished out of nowhere. He also no longer mentions Jason, instead using the name Mr. X by Jayden. “There are places under the sea that you need to track.”

“Harta buried pirate?”

Camellia shakes. The ponytail of his horse also moves in rhythm with his head. “Romansa men, eh? Unfortunately no. There was a place within the sea, most likely on the edge of a cliff. A hidden place. Blocked from the human eye. You have to find where the exact coordinates are.”

“What kind of place?”

“A type of underwater bunker.”

“What is it?” Jayden asked while trying to guess. As far as his memory goes, the ICPA also has quite a lot of secrets under the sea. Starting from secret headquarters, private oil mining, to weapons storage.

Beyond Jayden's expectations, Camellia just shrugged. “I wish I knew.”

“Negative, agent Jayden.” Camellia mimicked what Jayden used to hear. “We need your help and you need my help.”

“No. You don't need my help. So, how about you talk to Mr. X for him to let me go and you all won't go to jail? My boss is pretty good with a penitent villain.”

“He loves violence more than Mr. X.”

Jayden stopped playing his chair. He crossed his legs. His eyes looked at Camellia's face. Everything he heard from Camellia now sounded more like pieces of clues than commands.

Camellia stood up, walking across Jayden, straight to the computer desk. There, he fiddled with something. In an instant, the screen changed. There's an article out there. It comes from a now-closed conspiracy website. It was about a missile hidden under the sea.

“Find this and you will be found,” Camellia said.

“It's fake,” say Jayden.

“You said it was fake because you were the one who managed to hack the site where this article was posted. Nadira is pretty sharp, yeah. I wonder if you're as sharp as him too.” Camellia smiled knot. “This missile is genuine, I guarantee you. Mr. X wants it from the wrong person.”

Jayden caught the impression that Camellia wanted to let him know that Mr. X ordered the missile. However, for one reason or another, the maker did not give up the missile and instead kept it under the sea. Now, he needs Jayden's help to find what's supposed to be his.

“If I find him, Mr. X will wear it to kill the crowd.”

“If you don't manage to find him, Mr. X will kill you and then find someone else to find him. Unfortunately, it must be admitted, not many have the ability like you.”

“I take that as a compliment.”

“It was indeed a compliment.” Camellia stepped forward while Jayden reflexively pulled herself back hearing the swivel chair. “Mr. X is putting up large amounts of money. Much greater than the wages you can receive from the ICPA over the course of a year. Once you find him, Mr. X will set you free. We'll set up a scenario to make it look like a regular kidnapping for ransom. You can go back to your usual life and no one gets hurt. It all ends well, doesn't it?”

Jayden's turn to laugh. “There is no guarantee everything will end as well as it.”

“Mr. X is different from other criminals.” Camellia's gaze turned cold. There was a slight pressure on each of his words that instantly vanished in the next sentence. “Trust me, you don't want to disappoint him.”

“Colah. Why do you think I want to do it? You cannot threaten my life. If you need me, you can't kill me.”

“Fast. If we really need you.” Camellia looked at Jayden intently as if she wanted to emphasize that what she said this time was really serious. Of course it worked. Jayden blinked when he heard that. Next, Camellia's attitude turned relaxed as usual. “Need to tell you, Jayden, we have a hostage.”

Jayden chuckles. “I don't remember having friends you guys can hostages.”

“Unfortunately, it's true.” Camellia sighs.

Jayden could feel his heart start pounding when Camellia picked up the phone and started typing something in there. Half of her hopes Camellia will show a picture of Jason, her sister, on the phone screen. The other half don't know what to expect. Jayden has no idea about hostages.

“Do to them, Jayden.” Camellia turned the phone towards Jayden.

The sound of the phone was dominated by loud roars, engine roars, and the pounding of waves. The picture on the phone made his eyeballs grow bigger. Jayden never thought he'd have to hack the system to be a hero. Supposedly, Alex's hero isn't him. While her? He should be nothing more than a maid or even a problem.

“Listen, Jayden,” says Camellia, “however, Mr. X will get what he wants. So, use your brain!”
