The Zetta Sonic

The Zetta Sonic
Morning Flight

Alex woke up as usual. The rover barked when the room door was knocked. Preston came in with a tray of hot tea. He's confirmed some of Alex's schedules. After a long debate, Alex was finally able to quit a course he didn't like. In exchange, Alex promises to use her time to learn something else.

Dad doesn't matter about that at all. His mother and Mrs. Bellsey another story. Both insisted that Alex at least take an online course or something. In the end, both women gave up.

Given the debate that had happened on the phone always made Alex smile unconsciously. Preston knew the expression.

“Considering something funny, Alex? Is this about school?” Preston asked. He stood next to Alex enjoying tea on the sofa as he checked the schedule of the day on a tablet PC.

“Many funny things happened lately.” Alex is still smiling.

“What is this about horses on the page?”

Alex chuckles at it. That's kind of funny. His father bought a horse robot for him and he himself asked the ICPA to arm his new toy. It's funny enough to see some robbers being frightened by it.

“I hope you don't do those funny things anymore. At least in this week,” continued Preston. “Your mother is being sensitive lately.”

Alex's laughter vanished. “I know.”

He cleaned his master's cup, arranged it in a tray, and prepared to leave the room. “Then hurry up. Your mother was waiting for breakfast together.”

“What are you talking about?”

Preston stopped at the door. He nodded confusedly at Alex. “I'm sure your mom already sent a message.”

Alex's eyeballs rolled down. He's thinking. Yes, he did receive the message and had time to reply to it anyway. It's just that, after knowing that mother hides more things — besides lying, Alex has difficulty distinguishing what is true and what is not. Including today. Alex wasn't sure if his mother would come that day on a morning flight.

“I think he has not arrived, international flights are sometimes late,” said Alex origin. “And, she wants breakfast? As I recall mommy doesn't usually have breakfast.”

“Maybe he just misses you.”

Alex laughed a little. “Maybe. Alright, I'll be down soon.”

Preston Nodded, leaving Alex. As soon as the door closed, Alex slumped on the sofa of pumpkin color with a long sigh. She didn't expect her mother would actually arrive early. Worse, his mother asked him to have breakfast together. Usually, it will not affect. This time, he was not ready.

Rover barked, calling attention.

“Do not now!” sahut Alex's. “I don't want to play.”

The rover barked again and placed his head and one of his front legs on Alex's knee. That's what's happening. Sometimes the black rottweiler seemed to understand. This is just one way to try to cheer Alex up.

Alex's hand rubbed the dog's head. A few minutes of calm was enough for him. Alex is awake. He got ready and finally went out to breakfast with his mother. That thought had crossed his mind. Looks like eating his morning will be an interesting lying race.

“Hai, darling!” Mom comes up to Alex, puts a sweet peck on each of her cheeks.

Her mother changed her hairstyle again. Her long curly hair was now a bright red color. The fragrance of her delicate perfume met Alex. The same perfume. Her mother is in the world of acting and fashion. She likes to change styles except for the perfume. It seems like mother is even more loyal to her perfume than her father.

“You are not only getting better looking, now you are getting taller. Oh, looks like I saw a model candidate on your face.” Mom takes off the hug. He stroked her son's cheek gently.

What lie is that? Alex wants to laugh at his mother's praise. In her own eyes, she was completely unsuitable to be a model. Jayden might be another story. He was tall, had a dazzling look of sharp eyes, a well-built body and ideal, although his smile was quite annoying.

While he has a scary killer eye. He realized this when he used Dragon Blood more often. Sometimes he is afraid of himself. What about the wounds on his body? The injuries were able to recover well thanks to ICPA technology. But, a model shouldn't have a body full of such injuries.

Mom steps into the dining chair. Preston pulled the chair for his employer. Mother nodded slowly. Preston began preparing breakfast for the two.

“Girls will like you. Do you have a girl today?” She asked but did not give her son a chance to answer. “You will get a lot of options when you become a model.”

Alex shakes. “It's interesting and scary.”

Alex doesn't understand why his mother can say that easily. What choice did he mean? He belongs to his father. He belongs to his family. Alex never thought if all this time his mother was like that or he who just realized it.

“How is school?” Mom changed the topic when breakfast was ready and Preston left them.

“Boring. As always. Many problems.”

“Your value is down. Something bothering you?”

“Of course. I was thinking why my grade was dropping.” Alex chuckles. His mother just smiled.

“I know the value is not everything, but—“

“I'll chase my grades again. I don't need to worry.” Alex cuts off his mother's speech. “How about mom? Any interesting things for these few weeks?”

“Many problems. You know, the people around me are always trying to find news. They watched for twenty-four hours, hoping I made a mistake. They want viral news or something.” His mother laughed a little.

“Including news that had become headline—“

“Gosh! It's trap!” Mom's replacement cut Alex's words. “We do not stay in the same room. I just happened to be there to take a sample of the product.”

“Cosmetics?” guess Alex.

“Jewelry. He wants me to do some photo sessions. Don'worry. I'll get over this misunderstanding with your father.”

“He called?” ask Alex.

His mother was silent, looking for words. “We communicate every day,” he said.

Communicating. A rigid language. Alex is pretty sure that you don't call mom every day. Their relationship was spaced by international business and crime. Alex can't blame anyone. He was also involved in it. The relationship feels normal when you are around you too.

“Alex... Alex... Dear?” Mother touched his son's hand, awakening him from the daydream. “Sorry, if mom worries you. Trust me, everything will be in order later.”

“I know.” Alex throws his fake smile while pulling his hand from the mother's delicate fingers. “I was just thinking about something else. This Saturday we will have fun.”

“Try telling mom. What's up this Saturday?”

“Pool party's. Swimming with classmates. Hope the weather is bright.”

“It seems fun. You will amaze your friends with your swimming style.”

Alex smiled again. Mother's exaggerating. No one will be captivated by her mediocre swimming. Besides, I didn't know she was drowning. Alex was silent for a moment when those memories returned. Let's hope Saturday is not just bright but calm. Alex doesn't need any more cases involving his schoolmates.

Except, Cody.
