Orbis Online
125. Patrol in the Forest

After feeling rest enough Reus and Ikshan went through the forest around the village separately, just in case a group of Direwolves or other monsters were lurking from behind the bushes and trees.

The two reached the village of Rockfall at noon and at this time the sun had almost sunk in the western horizon. Villagers, mostly women and children, hid in their homes cowering in fear, while men and young people patrolled the village with makeshift weapons.

The existence of Reus and Ikshan was not very accepted by the citizens due to the situation that gripped the village, so the two decided to patrol outside the village.

"Although they are low-leveled, that doesn't mean they'll just give up, huh?"

"{Well, this is their village. I think it's better to fail after a struggle than not to fight at all.}"

Reus sighed watching the several villagers patrolling from the side of the forest. It was not that Reus underestimated the villagers, just that with an average level of five to ten they would not be able to defeat any Direwolf-class monsters, let alone the weapons they used were mostly kitchen knives, either, farm forks, axes and cleaver.

In any case, they were only digging their own graves, not protecting the village. Well, maybe they could buy some time for the other villagers to escape by letting the monsters eat them.

The NPCs in Orbis Online are not just programs, they are given a special A.I which makes them almost indistinguishable from real humans. This is what makes Reus feel compassion for the villagers who intend to take their own lives.

While worrying about the residents, Reus breathed heavily staring at the clouds in the sky in a crimson orange. The night was almost here and he had no lighting.

"In Ikshan's mind, you can make a little light out of your Elemental Rune, right?"

   "{Yes, why is it?}"

   "Son has such practical power."

Reus laughed dryly and got Ikshan's answer through a message, only he was a person who did not have lighting tools and would probably be overwhelmed when night fell.

Direwolves have a keen sense of smell and hearing, and their sense of sight is also better than humans. Reus will lose if the monsters come at night in large numbers and the fight lasts long.

Although he had the experience of fighting at night without enough lighting during the war in the village of Viredeta, this time there was not the slightest moonlight that could help his eyesight.

"{Reus, I'll end this conversation. There are some monsters coming.}"

"Yes, I also have a few guests here."

After closing the message panel, Reus' attention was diverted to the group of monsters that had already surrounded him. Even though the sunlight had dimmed, Reus could see all of them.

"Death Walker, huh? Why is there always Undead everywhere?"

Death Walker is a variant of the Undead race. Their appearance resembled that of a Zombie that Reus had fought around the Dungeon Ambora Temple, only that Death Walker's skin was purple-black and each of his attacks could grant Poison and Slow status, respectively, as well as his attacks were much more deadly than ordinary Zombies.

Slow status itself has the effect as the name suggests, a status that lowers the opponent's Dex status to a certain point depending on his level and strength. An opponent that was quite troublesome for a player that relied on speed like Reus.

It's just that this is not a problem for Reus who has the Undead Slayer title. His attack on any Undead race would be 30% stronger than usual, moreover, the Enchant Black Necklace of Nightshade would raise his entire status by 10% when nightfall arrived. Not to mention the significant level difference between them.

Right now the amount of Reus status could be equated with players level 150 and below or even more, so this Death Walker who was roughly level 70s was no match for Reus.

Although there were some Direwolves accompanying them, Reus did not feel the slightest fear.

Without wasting any more time, Reus pulled his sword from his back and darted towards one of the Direwolves there with Sprint, then continued with one full-strength slash while spinning.

Zraats!

In one slash the Direwolf's head floated in the air. The neck was one of the several Critical Zones on the bodies of living things, so Reus's attack added improvised rounds and Breathing Power instantly took the life of the giant wolf.

After taking the wolf's life Reus immediately shot towards the other Direwolf intending to do the same, but the giant wolf had anticipated Reus' swift attack. He took a big step back.

When his attack is successfully averted, Reus then targets the nearby Death Walker who is about to attack him. He managed to split the two bodies of the Death Walker without difficulty with just one swing.

Basically Death Walker only excelled in Str status and Poison and Slow attack status, it was only natural that Reus could split his rotten body in one attack. Actually not only Str status and bad status attacks, but his blood can also poison living things if exposed to just a little.

Usually most people will be troubled and feel hesitant to attack opponents like this, but Reus is really different from most people.

He used the poisonous blood of the Death Walker he had slashed earlier as his superiority to attack the nearby Direwolf.

"Hmm, it looks like I don't need to use any skills."

Reus felt that his sword felt extremely light even when slashing at the Direwolf and Death Walker. This feeling he had never felt until now.

It did not take long until Reus finally managed to clear all his opponents without any significant difficulties.

After finishing the fight Reus felt that something was stirring his mind. Supposedly the Undead were aggressive monsters that attacked any living thing nearby, why would they instead cooperate with the Direwolf who was a living being?

"Maybe it was a Necromancer or something."

Necromancer, one of the rare classes among players as well as NPCs. This class is a Silver-Class level class which is an advanced class of Mage and has the ability to raise dead creatures and make them subordinates who are willing to do anything without asking.

This class was categorized as a rare class due to the difficulty of obtaining the Necromancy Emblem Skill, one of the main conditions for taking the Necromancer class. The rarity level was almost the same as the Dual Wielding skill.

Despite being categorized as a rare class, Necromancers were not a popular class considering they had to search for corpses first to be resurrected. The strength of a Necromancer depended heavily on how strong and high-leveled his corpse was when it came to life. If the body is weak then the army will also be weak, vice versa.

After all, Necromancers were a class that was considered taboo by most NPCs for not appreciating the corpse of someone who had died. When players took this class then his Respect would be reduced by at least 1,000 points in the eyes of NPCs.

Judging from this fact, it is unlikely that there are players involved in attacking Rockfall, but still this is quite confusing Reus.

While thinking about the possibilities of the evidence, Reus gets a message from Ikshan.

"{Reus, I'm facing a lot of Death Walker and some Direwolves here.}"

"There too? Means it does have something to do with the Necromancer."

Reus' forehead shriveled as he read Ikshan's message, he was not very fond of the enemy in large numbers. It would deplete his stamina quickly, although his experience and ability to deal with enemies increased sharply.

Author

I don't know why I feel compassion and sympathy for those who equate this novel with SAO, even though I think that it is read very far, both in terms of system, game, influence on the real world, and so on, skills, characters, plot, and death game issues 🤔

I wonder, is their literacy only limited to SAO? I'm also a fan of Kiritod, but not until the toxic crazy glah.

Oi, be aware of yourself the toxic SAO so as not to embarrass yourself.

From now on I will terrorize those who equate this novel with SAO for "ogeb" reasons as much as possible, muehehehe.

People who only know this and that just by seeing the similarities in the genre of virtual reality games, I don't think I have the right to read and comment on this novel.

If your world is only in one place, then you will be blind in the other.

And for the promoters of the novel, I hope you do not promote your novel in the comments column with the words copas because I will directly block (whether potent or not).

His reason? It seems there is no effort to appreciate writers and readers who have written and read until here. If you want a promotion, I hope the sentence is composed by yourself do not copas mulu, let it look more effort and I respect you more.

As long as you know, I often look at your comments, especially those that are promotional and negative comments, I often visit his profile to see comments that you often write in novels or other comics. So yeah, just be careful.

To you readers who have read up to this chapter, thank you for following Reus's adventures so far and for accepting my selfishness as author.

Spoiler a little, I think this story is only finished about a quarter if there are no obstacles or changes, so look forward to the update with patience ya🤭

Sorry yes, I even confided, wowkwkwk. Btw, see you on next chapter!
