239. Before the War

Two days later Reus' entourage was picked up by a group of Lizardmen warriors in front of the inn on a blind morning. They are asked to pick up Reus and the others by Julius so that there is no misunderstanding as the three approach the Bailendra Kingdom's forces from Dragnar's direction.

It is true that the news of two humans and one Draconian of a similar form helped Bailendra Kingdom face the Menschrein Kingdom more or less as mercenaries were already spread among the nobles however, the, other than the nobles present at the meeting in the dragon palace a few days ago no one recognized the true form of the three so as to cause unnecessary misunderstandings.

"No problem, we don't mind if the situation says so."

Reus nodded slowly to understand the state of Bailendra Kingdom a little.

Even though the soldiers said so, Reus could guess what Julius meant by sending them here. He thought Julius wanted to make sure that Reus' entourage did not escape when the war began and if it did, Julius would force the three into battle.

Reus himself did not care much about the hidden reason. He had no intention of retreating right before the battle began, let alone this rare opportunity to take revenge against Hiruma through his Legion. This opportunity will not be missed by Reus.

After all, even though this group of warriors was of a higher level than him, if they had bad intentions like holding all three or doing something similar Reus was certain plus the existence of Ibane, they will have no trouble getting out of Dragnar by force.

Ibane appeared to be slightly objecting to Julius' distrust but chose to remain silent. He did not want to create unnecessary trouble before the war began.

After Reus, Ikshan, and Ibane felt ready the three departed from the inn escorted by the soldiers made the surrounding residents who witnessed it frown.

A group of humans escorted by an army of Lizardmen warriors? It is quite rarely seen unless there are certain cases that cause humans to do problems and thrown into prison in this country.

Before the three of them went too far the inn officials came out and called out to Reus and the comrades.

"Mr Reus, if you survive this war come back here and we'll have a party for you!"

"Mr Ikshan, come back safely! You still owe 300 Byl for your card loss last night!"

"Mr Ibane, our fight is not over yet! Hurry back and continue our fight in my kitchen! I'll be waiting for you!"

The cheers of the inn employees were greeted by the shocked gazes of the citizens who heard it there. They do not believe in the Dragon Country which is blatantly hostile to humans even there are calls for support for humans from its citizens.

Reus and the others waved their hands from a distance hearing the voices of the inn servants without stopping a step.

After the figures of the three human beings disappeared from the sight of everyone with the soldiers, some residents who had heard the statements of the inn employees came to them.

"Hey, are you guys serious about supporting those humans? Didn't they do something and end up being captured by the soldiers?"

   "Huh? Doing something? Captured?"

"uh? Didn't the soldiers come to arrest them?"

The surrounding residents looked confused at the reaction of the inn employees. From the corner of the field they were clearly seen that Reus' entourage was being arrested and going to jail but got a strange reaction from the lodging employees, they were more astonished.

One of the inn employees laughed for a while before explaining that Reus's entourage was not captured but escorted to the battlefield.

"Human? Help Bailendra Kingdom face the Menschrein Kingdom, the human kingdom?"

"Maybe you won't believe it but that's what we heard."

The residents did not believe the words of the inn official. Humans are greedy creatures that every time they come to this country there are one or two problems related to them.

The view of the citizens of Bailendra Kingdom is bad enough for humans who have been eyeing blood and various parts of their bodies that can be used as material to make high-quality Equip. Plus the declaration of war from the human kingdom, the Menschrein Kingdom made their opinions of humans even darker.

The innkeeper shook his hand to dismiss the opinion of the residents. He said neither Reus, Ikshan, nor Ibane had such intentions.

"Why do you guys look so sure? Have you been brainwashed by them?"

"Hmph, don't equate them with such trashy creatures."

The innkeeper told me the first time Reus and Ikshan, even when Ibane came long before the two, they treated the pair like these citizens. They treat both like pests that will only bother you.

But when the envoys of the Three Dragon Boards visited their inn to meet Reus and the others, the servants of the inn changed that attitude. At first they were scared and just acted as if they were going to make up for all their previous treatment but Reus and his friends did not take heart.

They even invited lodging employees to make friends and treat them well as if there was no difference between them. It began to be felt by them when Reus often talked with the inn owner, Ikshan invited lodging employees to play cards when free at night, and Ibane went to the kitchen and cooked with the chef.

   "They did all that?"

The residents opened their eyes wide not to believe the story told by the employees of the inn.

"I told you you wouldn't believe."

One of the inn officials puffed his chin saying so. He is the Lizardmen who defeated Ikshan in an overnight card fight. He seems to be proud of that.

Seeing the lodging employees seem to believe in the three humans—one half human being—the view of the citizens towards Reus and his friends changed slightly.

"But, if it's only three people isn't it too little? Wouldn't it be that they would only hinder rather than help?"

"Hmm, we also don't know how strong they are but one of the members of the Three Councils of Dragons, Salvinius Dragnova asked for their own help a few days ago. So I don't think they're ordinary people."

Some of the people who heard that widened their eyes in disbelief while the rest laughed, feeling that the innkeeper was only joking if not crazy. How could such a small and invisible group of humans attract the attention of the Three Dragon Councils who in fact were the rulers of Bailendra Kingdom?

The servants of the inn did not care about the reaction of the people around them. They may not know the exact strength of Ikshan or Ibane, but they have witnessed a small piece of Reus's power that can blow away a group of Bailendra Kingdom soldiers without touching them.

If such an capable person could not be said to be strong, what about the quality of the Bailendra Kingdom warriors who were said to be one of the strongest in the Northern Plainfest that they had been proud of?
