It normally takes a few weeks for an ordinary horse-drawn carriage to reach Bailendra Kingdom from Lavore Kingdom, but thanks to Reus and Ikshan's rapidly growing status as well as Aulcrat's horse-delivery, both of them were able to reach the border of this Dragon Country in just a few days.
"Stop where you are, man!"
As Reus and Ikshan sat leisurely enjoying the view from above the horse, several border guards who seemed to be from the Lizardmen race approached while unsheathing their respective weapons.
Reus and Ikshan were not surprised to see their arrival not welcomed, they could understand him considering that the current Bailendra Kingdom was in hot conflict with the Menschrein Kingdom in the east.
"Just relax, we're not from the Menschrein Kingdom let alone their spies."
Reus took the initiative to explain first after getting off the horse, Ikshan also followed but preferred to be silent so as not to cause excessive problems.
"We're gonna judge that, asshole."
The border guards there immediately inspected Reus and Ikshan's bodies carefully without loosening the vigilance. None of them knew what these two young men were hiding.
It took some time for the examination to go through. In addition to the weapons both being temporarily seized, Reus and Ikshan's arms were also handcuffed before being taken to the interrogation room, while their horses were tied behind the building.
"Reus, isn't treating them too harshly to travelers?"
Ikshan disliked the treatment these Lizardmen had given him. Indeed, he was from the same race as the humans from Menschrein who were enemies of Bailendra Kingdom, but Ikshan felt this treatment was a little too excessive.
"Acclumi alone, they are currently in hot-hot feuding against the next country that contains all humans, plus the doctrine of human superiority is impossible the guard of Bailendra Kingdom directly trusts us."
Reus also added that if there was a chance and strength then these Lizardmen would have killed them, but it was fortunate for both of them that this Lizardmen border guard was only level around 120. If their level was over 150 it might be a bloody conflict difficult to avoid.
Currently the relationship between Bailendra Kingdom and Menschrein Kingdom even almost cause open war, obviously the entire border is guarded so tight considering that these two countries are located next to each other.
It was easy for the two of them to infiltrate each other and gather the information of the opponent.
"That's why their vigilance should be so high even if we're just travelers."
Ikshan spontaneously gulped his own saliva hearing Reus' speculation, he did not expect this fellow to be able to see to that extent.
In the end Ikshan shut his mouth not trying to ask any further, especially now that both himself and Reus were in the interrogation room which was heavily guarded by several high-level Lizardmen.
Wrong talk a little then both can cause meaningless problems.
Reus and Ikshan were asked to sit on a pair of chairs that had been provided and answer the questions asked as honestly as possible.
"This is the Truth Orb, a special item that can read whether you are lying or not."
The lizardmen before them placed a semi-transparent blue-colored crystal ball. He explained if this ball emits black color means the target is lying, but if white light is emitted then the target is honest.
"At any time you're caught lying, my friends behind you will pull out your fingernails and toes one by one until you tell me the truth."
He pointed to the back where there were two other Lizardmen ready to pull out Reus and Ikshan's nails using pliers, making Ikshan spontaneously swallow his saliva.
"It doesn't matter, after all, if I don't have to, I won't lie."
"Huh, we'll see."
The Lizardmen were slightly inedible to Reus' provocation but continued their work according to procedure.
Reus and Ikshan were hit with a series of questions about the intent of the two coming here, their origins, and of course their relationship with the Menschrein Kingdom.
"You're here to find someone?"
"True, more precisely a Dwarf and this is a request from Aulcrat von Lavore Reinberg, the King of Lavore Kingdom itself."
The lizardmen raised their eyebrows in shock, and then glanced at the nearby Truth Orb which was now emitting a flaming white light, indicating that Reus was not lying.
The lizardmen held their breath for a moment once knowing these two humans before him turned out to be important people. Even though Lavore Kingdom is a small kingdom that Bailendra Kingdom may be able to remove from the map easily, still looking for trouble with other countries is very prohibited— especially in this hot feud.
"Do you have a letter or identification that can prove what you say?"
Reus nodded slowly, he then took out the letter of introduction that Aulcrat had given him the day before they left Alvast from the Inventory and gave it to the Lizardmen by being thrown from behind, remembering that his hand was being restrained by handcuffs.
The lizardmen frowned receiving the cover letter, without even reading it he could tell this letter was not a fabrication of the emblem alone. But even so, he continued to open and read the contents of the letter.
A little while later the Lizardmen finished reading it, she then directed her comrades to remove Reus and Ikshan's handcuffs. Actually the Lizardmen in this room seemed hesitant, but they obeyed the words of the interrogator Lizardmen without resisting.
Reus and Ikshan moved their arms feeling the freedom without handcuffs feeling happy to be free this fast.
"I'm sorry we can't see that you're the envoy of Lavore Kingdom."
"No problem, it's only natural that Bailendra Kingdom tightens its borders, let alone that we're both human."
The lizardmen once again apologized deeply until Reus and Ikshan felt uneasy, but somehow they managed to persuade the person not to feel too guilty.
"My name is Strainer Worgniel, Captain of the Southern Border Guard."
Strainer immediately explained the reason for their actions to look rude and uncomfortable not wanting Reus and Ikshan to misunderstand further, making the two humans respond with a wry smile.
"Please don't think too much, Captain."
Reus asked Strainer how bad Bailendra Kingdom was with the Menschrein Kingdom. Although not so concerned about the treatment of Strainer's men who seem so rude to humans, he still feels curious about the relationship he is this country until humans like him are immediately taken to the interrogation room.
Strainer sighed for a moment before explaining that the relationship between Bailendra Kingdom and Menschrein Kingdom might already be irreparable in the future, that was because the leader of the country really intended to slaughter the Dragonewts for the sake of their blood and body materials.
Although the king of Bailendra Kingdom still proposed a peaceful approach, unfortunately the king of Menshcrein Kingdom had rounded up their resolve for the destruction of races other than humans. It is also supported by the councils of the country which are High-Human.
In the end at the meeting place of the king of Bailendra Kingdom and Menscrein Kingdom it almost caused a bloody conflict.
"If it wasn't for the Hermit mediating them, maybe Bailendra Kingdom and Menschrein Kingdom would have been a full-blown war by now."
Reus's eyebrows were slightly raised hearing the word 'Father' from Strainer's mouth. As he remembered only one person he had met bearing the title of Sage, namely Herlaina who was none other than the figure behind the name of God Horen, the Sage of Nature.
