"{Blood of Fafnir activated. Balmung absorbed the blood of the Undead Lesser Dragon.}"
The feminine sound of the system-style echoed within Reus' mind as the light and black smoke disappeared from Balmung's blade. Reus raised his eyebrows in response to the voice.
"So it's really blood?"
Reus stared at Balmung's blade in disbelief, he didn't think the black liquid counted blood and could be absorbed with the Blood of Fafnir.
Reus muttered inwardly admiring the new sword of Dragon Slayer Sword's evolution. He could deduce that Balmung was one of the Growth Equip, an Item capable of flourishing and being sought after by many.
It was true that Reus already had Blackstar who was a Living Item, Equip one level higher than Growth Equip, but he never refused to get an item this good.
"Well, there's no harm in having a Growth Item."
Reus shrugged with an awkward smile before seeing Balmung's status after absorbing the blood of the Undead Lesser Dragon, but unfortunately his expression of the Blood of Fafnir missed.
"No change?"
Reus' eyebrows shot high so nothing changed for Balmung. Though according to the explanation of Ability owned—Blood of Fafnir—Balmung can repair and strengthen itself when absorbing dragon blood killed by users, but the opposite happens.
Reus twisted his brain thinking about the cause of the inactivity of the Blood of Fafnir.
"Maybe there's less blood?"
After saying so, Reus once again touched his sword blade on the black blood belonging to the Undead Lesser Dragon he defeated letting Balmung absorb more blood, but nothing happened. Even the feminine voice of the system does not sound like before.
Reus rubbed his chin in response to the incident, he did not understand why the Blood of Fafnir was inactive despite having been thrust out in black blood. He then did various means in his mind for the sake of activating the Blood of Fafnir, but none of them worked.
"Hmm, if nothing works out this Blood of Fafnir only applies to the blood of different dragons. Perhaps no matter how much blood is offered, the Blood of Fafnir will not be active if its blood comes from the same dragon."
In the end that was Reus' conclusion regarding his new sword Ability. He also guessed that one of the reasons why the Blood of Fafnir was inactive also had to do with the type and rank of the dragons he defeated.
Reus did not know the type or rank among the dragons for sure, but he could guess the Undead Lesser Dragon he managed to defeat was the lowest type or rank among the other types and ranks of dragons.
This dragon had also turned into an Undead whose self was no longer counted as a pure dragon, but rather a half-Undead dragon. Maybe because this factor also causes the effects of Blood of Fafnir is not optimally active.
"Well, at least I can tell you a few things about the new abilities of this sword."
Reus stared at Balmung for a moment before hurriedly storing him into the Inventory upon hearing the sound of someone's exclamation from the direction of the city, making himself turn his head instantly.
"Hey human, are you alive?!"
There are two Lizardmen appointed as superintendents of Reus outside the city running towards him with an army of fully armed Lizardmen.
It seemed that they were intending to save Reus from the previous Undead Lesser Dragon or at least face the Undead dragon.
Reus is a human being and is still suspected of being a spy from the Menschrein Kingdom, but they cannot let Reus be seriously injured or even die thanks to the Strainer's badge on the border.
Unfortunately when they arrived at the scene, it was too late.
Their eyes glared fiercely watching the dead dragon scented with a thick death scent lying motionless near Reus, especially the two Lizardmen who served as the overseers of Reus. Their eyes would have almost slipped out of place had it not been for Reus raising a voice.
"I'm sorry, you've bothered to come here but you haven't got a chance to act."
Seeing Reus apologizing to them with a dry smile, the Lizardmen involuntarily began to sweat coldly all over his body. They could not believe that any weak-looking human could defeat a dragon alone.
They looked around several times to see if Reus was really fighting alone against this dragon. At first glance there is a fierce fight some time ago, but humans can defeat dragons alone it only exists in ancient stories.
Their attention then shifted to the carcass of the dragon that was split in two, their foreheads shriveling together.
"Did you really defeat this dragon by yourself?"
One of the Lizardmen asked Reus. They felt suspicious considering that Reus' level was not up to 200, while this dragon carcass was at least level above 250. It was impossible for anyone to defeat a dragon with such a level difference by themselves, or at least that was what they believed.
Reus panicked a little when asked that. Although he did indeed defeat this dragon, he did not want to be considered as ******* for defeating a being that was considered sacred in this country. He did not want the events in Lavore Kingdom to happen again.
He then made up a story about a strong person helping him defeat the dragon when he struggled to survive and avoid attacks in order to maintain his life.
"He went straight after defeating this dragon."
"Really?"
One of the Lizardmen raised his eyebrows slightly doubting Reus' words.
"Of course, why would I lie to you? Just look at my level is so different from this dragon."
Reus shrugged his shoulders allowing them to check his level and the corpse of the Undead dragon was not far from him. He did lie about the story of someone who helped him, but with his level now that was still not comparable to the dragon it could be concrete evidence.
Name: Reus
Level 201
Class : Freelancers
Respect :4,081
Str :2.389, Dex :2.521, Vit :1.828, Int :1.304, Luc :1.281, Conquer :55
It was true that the level of Reus was still far from that Undead Dragon in the eyes of others, but judging from his current status he was actually able to compensate or even defeat the dragon.
Luckily only the levels could be seen by others so the Lizardmen did not ask for Reus status which was completely out of proportion to his level.
"Truely, it is impossible for someone of your level to defeat a 280s dragon by themselves. Even if it has decayed and become an Undead Dragon, once a dragon is still a dragon."
One of them commented believing Reus' story, he praised Reus for surviving the dragon attack without being seriously injured at his current level.
"By the way, according to reports you do want to enter this Dungeon, right? Didn't the guard soldiers warn you about the Dungeon's guardian dragon?"
"Not at all."
"Ah, so so it is...."
The Lizardmen who asked was scratching their cheeks while laughing wryly in response to Reus' reply, she clearly knew the reason why the guard soldiers had not warned her.
Reus was a human, the same race as the trouble-seekers from the Menschrein Kingdom. Of course no one cares if he dies or lives in this country, instead most residents of Bailendra Kingdom hope that humans like Reus will be wiped out of this world.
The Lizardmen apologized deeply for the negligence of the gatekeeper soldiers who did not warn Reus first. The other Lizardmen also apologized, including the two Lizardmen who were in charge of watching Reus.
"Well, there's no need to apologize until it's done. I don't really mind, I'm alive anyway."
Reus can understand this, after all thanks to this incident he also got so much experience that he rose almost 30 levels at once. He also gained the title of Dragon Slayer which increased his status even crazier as well as the evolution of Dragon Slayer Sword into Balmung.
Rather than protest or condemn them, he wanted to thank them. Surely he did not say all that, but he kept it in his heart.
The Lizardmen were a little moved to see Reus who was so forgiving when this incident could take his life. Now they looked at Reus with respect, not just ordinary humans who should be destroyed like the inhabitants of the Menschrein Kingdom.
After resting for a while recovering his lost stamina as well as Energy thanks to his battle against the Undead Dragon just now, Reus got up and continued his intention of challenging this Dungeon before him.
"You really entered it? With this level?"
"There's something I need to make sure of this Dungeon. After seeing it straight away I have to get into it."
Reus's gaze could not be separated from the writing on the semi-transparent screen in front of his face. He was increasingly convinced that in this Dungeon there were one or two clues regarding the seven Arshwind seals he had to look for.
