Orbis Online
129. Living Items

   "Uh.... Where is this?"

When he opened his eyes, Reus saw a ceiling that was completely foreign to him, slightly different from most lodgings in Orbis Online but also looks very ancient compared to the interior of modern buildings.

It took some time for him to fully realize, then he changed his position from lying down to sitting down. His eyes skirted the neighborhood, finding himself in a room he had never seen.

Confusion soon struck his head, yet it was not long.

"Oh, you seem to have realized."

A young man with purple hair and eyes entered the room carrying a tray full of food, making Reus a little wary.

"Calm down, I'm not your enemy. If I were your enemy, you wouldn't be conscious in this place."

Reus did not believe his words, but he did not ignore them. It was true that even though he had not checked the level or ability of this man, the aura he was releasing was so different from the NPCs he had encountered so far.

There was no player-typical green ball above his head so Reus concluded the man was an NPC.

The man placed a tray of food on a small table not far away, then mixed some additional spices that he brought. Reus slightly suspected that the spice was actually poison, but he could not just judge it.

"Sorry, did you bring me here?"

Reus' last memory was interrupted when he activated Blackstar Full Control and felt excruciating pain, besides that he did not remember so much. It was only natural considering that his consciousness was lost once it finished off the monsters around, even Reus could not remember himself killing those monsters.

"Yes, this is my home. If you're not sure, you can see your friend is practicing there."

The man pointed out the window, precisely towards Ikshan who was training his kusarigama game. As he saw Ikshan calmly practicing, Reus heaved a sigh of relief. At least this guy is not a bad guy.

Thinking about the man's attitude, Reus only then thought of checking the true identity of this man.

Randolf Wallenstein – The Sword Lord's

Level 750

---

Reus' eyes widened when he found out the identity of this man, not expecting that the figure was the person he was looking for. He also did not expect to meet Randolf so soon after receiving the Quest from Harleina.

Reus then immediately took out the letter he received from Harleina and handed it to Randolf, making the purple-haired man raise his eyebrows slightly.

"I'm sorry, I was asked by someone named Harleina to deliver this letter to you."

"Oh, yes yes yes, thank you."

Randolf received the letter and immediately read it without concern for Reus, who was in a state of curiosity. It took only a few seconds for Randolf to read the entire letter, followed by a breath that made Reus even more curious.

After which Randolf turned his gaze to look at Reus seriously, leaving the young man a little frightened.

   "Your name is Reus, right,?"

   "Yes, is there a problem?"

"No, it's just that I want to tell you about this...."

Along with a slightly sour face Randolf told Reus the contents of the letter, making his face now become dour with cold sweat.

"I have to train under your guidance if I don't want to lose Blackstar? Miss Harleina wrote that?"

"so. Although I don't quite agree with his pushy methods, but I can't let anyone without sufficient knowledge and ability wander around carry that sword."

Randolf sighed once more, but this time he could not ignore the contents of Harleina's letter.

Blackstar was one of the cursed weapons that had claimed so many lives at the hands of Gespent De'arin, one of the supreme commanders of the Order of Chaos. If he allowed the sword to be carried around by someone who was not capable enough, Blackstar could fall back into the hands of the group of troublemakers.

Randolf then recounts some things about Blackstar's unknown abilities and origins. Of course Reus initially did not immediately believe it, but given Blackstar's description it is very possible.

"I know how you feel after using Blackstar for quite a long time, but I can't let that sword wander either. Please understand."

Although he decided not to rely too much on the sword anymore, in reality his ability was reduced quite far without Black Form and Blackstar's Magic Devour so Reus had a hard time letting go.

While thinking of a way for Blackstar not to be taken by Randolf, suddenly a question flashed through his mind.

"Aren't you able to take Blackstar forcibly from me? Considering your level is so high compared to mine, it's not that hard to do, is it?"

"If I can do it, then I've been doing it ever since."

Reus was more and more confused, why would a level 750 not be able to forcibly snatch an Item from someone in their 100s? He did not begin to think, Randolf raised his voice again.

"Reus, have you ever heard of Living Items?"

Reus shook his head indicating he did not know, but he felt attracted to this discussion.

Living Item is an Item that has passion and awareness, an Item that is very, very rare. This type of item was slightly different from the Growth Equip that Reus and the other players knew, but it had more or less the same characteristics.

Both can develop, both Growth Equip and Living Items. But what makes the two different is the direction and limits of its development.

Growth Equip can continue to grow if its users wear it more and more, but the Item has restrictions that cannot be exceeded due to the restrictions of the Item maker itself. When an Item had progressed so far that it touched the highest point, then it could no longer evolve like it used to, but its strength and quality would not decrease.

Unlike the Growth Item whose development was inhibited by the restrictions of the Item itself, Living Items could continue to evolve without any particular restrictions as long as its user wore them in battle.

Living Items are items that are very popular and sought after by people in the past because their development knows no boundaries, only there are not trivial losses.

As the name suggests, Living Item, the Item has its own awareness and desire. It did not matter if the consciousness or desires of Living Items were normal, but Living Items mostly had evil properties.

In addition to having their own awareness and nature, Living Items can also lose their strength and quality if they are not worn for too long.

There used to be a hermit who was famous for his kindness and generosity managed to obtain a Living Item in a Dungeon, but his attitude changed 180 degrees after finding the Item. He took many innocent lives while laughing.

"So, you mean Blackstar is a Living Item?"

   "Yes." Yeah."

Reus' hand shook violently knowing Blackstar's fact, he had not expected to succeed in obtaining such a great Item. But when he heard Randolf's next words, his face no longer looked happy.

Randolf said Reus was lucky that Blackstar had fallen asleep and had not been used by anyone for hundreds of years, causing his strength and quality to plummet, otherwise Reus might have lost his mind and been controlled by Blackstar.

In the midst of his explanation, Randolf said, Living Items can only be created by high-level Blacksmiths and use high-level materials, but there is the most important ingredient to make them.

In addition to the extremely high ability required, a Blacksmith would have to pour his every feeling and soul into the Item during the process to make it. It was the Blacksmith's feelings and soul that would give birth to the consciousness and desire in the Item.

Blackstar itself is a Living Item that was born from the feelings of anger and hatred for the Order of Chaos, so the personality and passion hidden in Blackstar are mostly these two things, he said, though Blacksmith did not intend to create Living Items.

"Then, what does that have to do with you not being able to take it away from me?"

"Living Items can choose their own users. If the Item acknowledges a master, then the ability of the Item cannot be used by others without the permission of the user. In your case, Blackstar has chosen you as its master."

Reus' eyes widened again in disbelief to hear it, but something stuck in his brain. If indeed he had been recognized as his master, why would Blackstar even intend to harm him when Full Control is active?

In the end he could only throw away the thought of not finding a satisfactory answer.

"I don't want to take Blackstar out of your hands, so I hope you're willing to train under my guidance."

Reus put on a bitter smile when he heard it, but this offer was not bad. Randolf has the nickname 'The Sword Lord' next to his name, a sign that he has mastered swordsmanship to an unimaginable level.

Reus thought for a while about the advantages and disadvantages of this offer before finally agreeing to it. Not every time he could meet and learn from a real swordsman, right? Especially from someone nicknamed 'The Sword Lord'.
